I am considering purchasing a MPB and I would like to know what my options are on getting the most storage space possible on the computer. I am a photographer and I would like to harddrives with one of the mirroring the other. Thanks for your help in advance...

there are some people who have done it to macbooks but i dont know about the Pro's but i guess the same can be done

Note, it's a different bus though.. on the MBP, the HD is SATA, the SuperDrive is PATA.

EDIT: Removed incorrect info. Correction, the MBA's HD is PATA, the MB is SATA HDs.

That's... pretty amazing.

Just imagine when 1 TB (or 640 GB) laptop HDDs come out.... 1.28-2 TBs of space in a 1" laptop.

2x640 would be good, because finally you'd get to see something that says "1.2 TB" instead of 930 GB 😉

Wow, it looks like they are offering 500gb drives for the optical bay in the 15" macbook pro. I may just have to upgrade to one of these 🙂 My 500gb internal drive only has 100gb free.

Man you guys are crazy. Use way more space than I ever do 😛

Largest drive I have at home (that I personally use) is 160 GB 😛

Granted, I use five drives for a total of 480 GB (across two computers), but still. I only use about 200 GB total.

You'd be amazed at how fast space fills up! My music collection alone is over 150GB, not counting videos, photos and other files.

I guess doing it will cut in half the battery life, right? I mean, 2 HDDs spining on the same notebook would suck a lot of power.... 😱

Oh my God, lol. Mine's a bit over 2 GB. It wouldn't even be that big if it was in uncompressed AIFF format =p

I have a few GB of photos... maybe 10 GB max... videos/movies (including TV shows) is around 40 GB. About 40-50 GB of applications, I think.
