I am about to pull the trigger on the Apple TV but wanted to know if there was ANY speculation about a significant change coming anytime (next month or so) soon.
I know anything will be conjecture and speculation but I couldn't find the Apple TV in the buyer's guide and was just wondering.
Thanks in advance!

Pull the trigger.
No news is no news.
If it does what you want it to do, and it does it now, don't wait.

I can't imagine Apple updating the Apple TV hardware wise for another 6 months. Maybe we'll get a sneek peek at MFSF09.

As the ATV already has USB, HDMI, Component, and Toslink; I don't imagine there will be any hardware updates as they are already riding on the edge of losing money hardware wise. My guess is they will enable new functionality via software update just as they do for the iPhone.
The only missing feature could be bluetooth remote/keyboard, but they have already proven that Wi-Fi can support the same functionality. Even in this scenario, the USB could be turned on to allow bluetooth dongle.

I also don't see any upgrade on the horizon, but I do think that they could upgrade the processor and video chipset at some point to allow for 1080p and a more fluid menu experience.

I haven't seen any rumors (that seem to have any basis) that an update is on the way. That's not to say it couldn't happen, just that it doesn't seem likely. There's speculation all the time about an update adding features like a Blu-ray drive, but that seems more wishful thinking than anything else.
In my opinion, the present design is capable of doing anything that Apple is likely to want it to do for quite some time. I do not believe Apple has any plans to add an optical drive. They will almost certainly offer larger hard drives at some point, but that's something that could be done by users anyway.

There has been very little speculation. Pull the trigger!
I have one solid piece of advice: Buy now now! If you keep on waiting, you will never purchase!
