Anyone take a 3G Apart yet?

If I take the two screws out of the bottom, will the chrome bezel come right out? I wish to sand and paint the chrome bezel only, I have a White 3G iPhone.
 
iphone 3g here, display glass not perfectly even around the edges, if you push the left top down it gets lower than the aluminium bezel, does anybody think I could solve the problem and avoid future problems by opening it?
