New Dell 24" S2490W Monitor with MacBook 13"

I just purchased a 24" Dell display. Unfortunately, its so new, no one had posted reviews yet (I know, my mistake), but I purchased anyway, since my MacBook supports that resolution. It looks blurry and stretched out, or shrunken to a 19" size and crisp. All my setting attempts have been futile.

I called Dell and they said I need a new video card. I should have come here first.

Any thoughts or ideas? Should I send it back and get the 22" Ultrasharp? I read great things about that one.

Yes, I have changed refresh rate, resolution, etc... I also tried to calibrate it with the monitor settings as well, and it still doesnt render properly. It is either off center, too small, too blurry or large black bars on the sides. AS soon as one thing looks better, the others look worse.

Connection is the DVI to VGA with a converter I bought from Apple

I was able to shift the picture where it almost fits the screen. Still a tad blurry though. Any tips?

The native res should be 1920x1200

Hey guys, that screen resolution is NOT supported as a native resolution. I was going to buy that same monitor or the $10 cheaper 24" display. This monitor is Full HD 1080i and most GPUs don't support this. Go with the $10 less 24". My MacBook supports up to 1920 x 1200, which is 24".

Again, this monitor has a weird resolution, 1920 x 1080 instead of 1920 x 1200.

As soon as I closed my macbook and use ONLY the monitor by waking it back up, the resolution is somewhat better and the image actually fills the screen all the way.

I expected more from Dell, but in the end, this isnt too bad.
