Take the rocks out of your case dude. I have 3 of these matte black, white, and gunmetal and none of them scratched my phone.

Wow thats kind of ironic that a protective case would actually case damage to the thing its meant to protect heh

I have heard that the first batch of these Sliders were all pretty tight. Try to get it off and then send it back to Incase and they will re-issue you the new (looser) model. I just got one myself and haven't had any troubles with it...

Yes, but the Slider isn't the only one that scratches up your phone. I first had a the Elan Form (hard leather case) and that put dings all over the back of my iPhone.

The thing is that I just got my phone replaced yesterday. My previous one fit fine and came out easily. This new one is stuck for good. I can't get it to budge. I'm going to run by the Apple Store this afternoon and see if they can get it out before I damage something. Are phones not the same size??

I would assume that all iPhones are created equal, but who knows. I just read somewhere that there was an issue with the first batch of Slider 3Gs.

Anyone know of a leather case with a belt clip that would nicely hold the incase slider. I currently have the incase folio and i am sure that it no longer going to work, thanks.

You could try Case-Mate's products -- I know they have something like this. However, I think you would need to ditch the slider and go with all Case-Mate products.

Out of curiosity, which color of the variety of sliders did you put that caused the scratch? Black Matte, White glossy, Magenta, or Gunmetal?

White glossy. It got scratched by the upper case at the top and on the right.
I cleaned the thing very well before I installed it. I cleaned the iPhone as well. This has happened after one day of use. Imagine if you kept it for a few months. Plastic cannot touch the iPhone. Full stop.

I've had it with all these cases meant to protect your phone. I wiped the fingerprints and saw scratches and blemishes all over the silver bezel. It's a $37 piece of crap. Brand new phone. I had it for a week. No scratches whatsoever. I finally decide to protect it, and I this damn thing scratches the hell out of my bezel.

When I bought my 3g, i also bought a leather Griffin case for it thinking that leather, although not the best looking IMHO, would at least protect it decently being that, well, it's leather. I was wrong! My bezel also got scratched. My point is, not sure what the bezel is made of but the material must be pretty soft for leather to scratch it. I would bet that the bezel will scratch with or without a case.

The iPhone with the Slider will fit just fine into the Mareware CEO Premiere. I have the GunMetal version and it slides in/out great.

They'll scratch it eventually. My guess is that when I have inserted my headphones, it pushed the phone out and dust got in. Then it got scratched from friction. I did clean it well before I put it in, both the case and the phone.
Cases are evil. I am convinced that they should not be bought unless they have a condom like SwitchEasy Neo or you use BodyGuardz before you put it in.

Yeah I guess every case has a flaw, I'm presently using Neo but the wiggles and the stains are somewhat disappointing as well.

I think hardcases are good.
Pouches or a sock only protect it when its inside it. But if you're actually using the phone then its completely exposed. So a hardcase acts as a strong second skin protecting the phone at all times.
There are many cases there that don't scratch the iphone. Mostly cases that don't slide. They have other flaws as well though.
I like the iClear concept. How its put on. They should have it in solid colors.

The matte blacks still do peel, especially if you keep your phone in your pocket like I do. I went through two black ones that peeled before switching to the gunmetal one. So far it hasn't peeled, but it's only been two weeks, and that's about how long it took for the black ones to start peeling.

I would just pass on the matte black. Why bother with returns/exchanges? Just stick with color/finish that works well and won't peel.

Had the Glossy White on my Black 3G, and it was just a little to flashy and had a slippery feel to it. Returned it and picked up the Gun Metal one and WOW I LOVE IT! It looks slick and stylish, yet it doesnt scream hey look at me. It adds some 'gripiness' to the phone, similar to the InCase Hard Shell on my MacBook.

After taking my Glossy White off, there were NO scratches on my phone what-so-ever, just a little bit of the rubber residue left which is wiped off pretty easily. Phone still looks brand new!

Hope this helps someone.

Oh yea, I applied the Anti-Glare PS after putting the case on, and I have NO air bubbles at all. The case actually made it super easy to put on.

I bought mine at the Apple store, and they let me exchange it for a gunmetal, even though it was a few weeks past the return date. The first time I exchanged my matte black for another matte black, I went to the apple store without a receipt even, and the guy let me exchange it and printed out a new receipt for me. YMMV though.

How many of you guys have gotten your chrome bezel scratched from using the incase slider? Id like to know if its a really common occurrence or if its just isolated cases, maybe just bad luck? Im still undecided as to which case to buy my two options at the moment are the incase slider or an ultra slim sena pouch, i know they are two completely different things. The reason id buy the pouch is because i like the naked iphone but im afraid i might drop it at some point this is where the incase slider comes to mind, a case to have always on and still be able to use the phone freely. What do you think guys??

I have the white slider. It started to scratch the bezel area where the two cases meet. I never take the bottom off to dock. I always use the cable. I guess the small movement within those points and where they meet is enough to create a scratch.

Got the NEO instead. Best protection and so far no bezel scratches.

I'll keep my slider as a backup.

I have had the matte black finish slider case on my 3G for a couple weeks now.
So far, the finish hasn't shown any signs of fading/cracking/peeling.
I have noticed that the bezel has scratches on it. None of the scratches are big/deep, all are light and can only be seen at certain angles, nothing to lose sleep over.
I got my monies worth out of the case when I actually dropped my phone on the concrete. The case barely shows signs of it being dropped, and the phone itself has no damage. The phone fell on the top left corner, and landed on the face. The raised edge of the case kept the screen from getting scratched, which was a huge relief.
So far, I like this case. I don't care about the scratches at all, that cheesy bezel isn't meant to hold anyways (and when I feel like it, I'm "brushing" mine, I hate the bling bling chrome look anyways).
Incase Slider case is a good hard case in my opinion, already got 3 friends using them.

Just got my Matt Black incase slider and I love it! The fit, finish and feel of the case is awesome. In my opinion it looks much better than the Capsul rebel which I ran since july. This case is slimmer, looks more professional without the weird case design and doesn't collect dust in all the cracks of the case like the rebel does. The buttons are much easier to press because they are exposed.

Only downside I see is the price, but in reality what is $10 more than other cases to protect your iphone? Its not much... I wish I would have gone with this from the beginning but hey you live and learn. I give it 10/10, worth the extra money over other cases.

You will love it until it starts cracking/peeling. Give it a few weeks before that happens. I had the gunmetal slider and the paint is starting to crack on the back where the two pieces slide together. These are nice cases, but too many defects to deal with. I am going to go back with the griffin wave case. Since I have had no problems with it.

OR my friend (i have posted this a few times) who dropped his down some concrete stairs it did chip apart (paint) and protected the bezel and back. so... his iPhone died after the fall and he chipped the glass and got fine scratches since he did not have a screen protector. Doubt it. I have always had my phone cased. But I noticed the back of the phone there are alot of cracks on it. By the volume button, around the camera, and by the sim card hold. So much for investing on a cell phone case and still getting damage. I might of just used it naked and take the risk. =\

i tried putting one on at the Apple store and it is tight but no, i could pull it out fine. My friend's was the same way although he is not going to put his now "refurb'ed" iPhone 3G in one again. I don't see anything wrong with it but he had a bad accident with his old iPhone in it and now wants to buy a Otterbox to protect his 'love'.

just that if you put a screen protector on it might get in the way if you don't put it on exactly

I noticed mine was a little tight when I first tried to get it off, but it seems to have become easier to remove with time. You also have to remember when pulling it out that the volume buttons and silent switch may catch on the edge, so prying that side slightly with your fingernail may assist in removing it. I've also heard that it may be a problem with the initial batch and that subsequent batches have been fixed, but I haven't had problems with mine overall.
