Nothing special anymore. I think too many companies made similar designs for the 3G release. Matte black is nice though?

This was BY FAR the best case for the 1st gen, and I expect it will be just as good for the 3G.
EDIT: Does anyone know where their stuff ships from?

Their design studio is in San Francisco, so I would assume somewhere in California. I could be wrong, though.

Looks like it ships from the West Coast.
Does anyone know if Apple Stores are going to carry? I'm in NY and shipping options start at close to $10 and up to over $50.

Finally they release it. But they told me they were going to have a wide variety of colors. Nice..........only two of them! It would of been a better case if it was transparent were you can see the apple logo. I'll pass on this and stick with my Griffin Wave.

Just ordered the black. I hope this is as good as everyone says the previous version was. I agree with Black Mac on the asthetics though. I have a wave case on my phone now and I like the fact that you can see the apple logo through the frosted back. I am only switching because I have seen so many good reviews of the original slider and too many complaints about the wave case scratching the phone. That being said, I do like the look of the white slider on the black phone but I worry that the glossy plastic would be just as slippery as the original phone material. Hopefully the black matte will have a little grip to it. $10 shipping seems to be the norm for even small lightweight items now. Fuel prices!

Yeah, I will order this too incase the Macally IceCase is no good and scratches the bezel. I've heard that the incase slider doesn't scratch it up because of the tight fit. Crap doesn't get in between the bezel and plastic frame to grind up and cause lines all over your chrome bezel.

Yeah, I haven't had a problem with the wave yet either but there were a few threads on here with lots of complaints and some pics of nasty scratches. I think as other people have said you can get scratches with almost any case if dirt gets in there. Anyway, I have seen almost no negative feedback on the original slider so hopefully more of the same with the new one.

I really want to get this, but I'm worried that the matte black finish is going to peel off like it did on my 1st gen matte black slider. I really wish they had a clear one out already. Apparently more colors are coming soon, hopefully sooner than later.

Yep lots of cases do it. Too loose and not tight fit like the Capsule Switcheasy. Since they are not making one for 3G, incase slider is just as good. Probably better. Ordered it, glossy white, 2nd Day Air. Need it before I take off for a business trip. :)

I can't compare to the capsule rebel, but I did have the white slider for the original iPhone and it didn't scratch that bad, although since it's plastic it did scratch.

My favorite part about the slider was was that it did NOT scratch the bezel and it let about 80% less junk in it. And there aren't plastic strips on it... There are some sticky-ish strip that a soley for holdin it in place, but they are softer than the rest or the case and couldn't possibly scratch it.
I've touted this case on macrumors a lot because it is so thin and well made, I hope the 3G version lives up to those standards as well. Assuming they ship fast I should have mine this weekend, then I'll post pics and a review.

With all the possible manufacturing glitches and imperfections these days, I would only buy a case like this in a store, after I popped it open and checked it out, looking for rough edges, bumps, gaps, etc. Almost $50 shipped is bad enough...shipping back a defective one would suxor.

Oh, well.

Well I'd look up the case then, because there are post and threads about it scratching the chrome, and also leave marks from the rubber pieces it "slides" against when it's pushed into the top piece. Just cause it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it hasn't happened to others who own the case.

I had the glossy black InCase Slider on my 1st Gen iPhone for about 6 months and never had any issue with the bezel being scratched (well nothing major, yes it had little minor ones that just about any case will cause when dust gets trapped between the case and bezel). I did not have any parts on the bottom from the slider part and I used it rather frequently (took the bottom off 3-5 times a day to put in charger at home, work, etc.).
I also never had a problem with the case itself showing scratches (though my gf had the white glossy version and hers did show scratches and got marks all over it frequently).
When anyone gets the matte black will they post pictures? Thanks!

I recently purchased the Matte Black for my 1st Gen and it's absolutely the perfect case. It has a slight grip to it, but it's still hard plastic. Not too grippy that it brings out the inside of your pocket with it, and hard enough to protect from drops. Now that it's available for the 3G, I may upgrade my phone. I may wait a few weeks and see if others come out...i.e. clear.

Also, the description says it's a rubbery grip......does it pick up lint in your pocket like other silicone ones?

It's not hard to see why when you consider the following:
- the Capsule itself is $10 cheaper, and $7 cheaper on shipping+handling
- customer support from Capsule seems better; quick responses by e-mail
- Capsule came out 2-3 weeks before the Slider

I liked the capsule, but its too loose all around as far as fit. Having a clear or ice case that shows off the iPhone itself is what's cool about it also. Wish incase would make a clear type case also.
I returned my capsule and ordered this one. :)

Is the new case as slippery as the one for the original iPhone? That's one of the things I didn't like about the Slider. The other problem was that the soft plastic rails inside the case stained the back of the original iPhone...

Local Apple Store - Memphis, TN
I went back to Apple in NYC (SoHo store) this afternoon and they had the black (even thought the person on the phone said they weren't in yet).
I couldn't resist and bought one. Very cool! I'm glad I bought it.
I have a white one (glossy) on the way which I ordered because I have the white iphone. The matte finish on the black is a little to get used to and there is one tiny imperfection on the top (barely noticeable- I'm just being anal). Overall, it's great. I'm very happy with this. I'll probably return the white when it arrives unless it's better then the black (I doubt it).
I gotta say, for a hard case, it hardly adds any size. Not to mention it really preserves the feeling of the curves and lines of the 3g design.
One thing to note, when I first pushed it in to the top part it created some air under my Power Anti-Glare film. I think this happened because the film wasn't on totally straight. I messed around with the film and screwed it up. I wound up using the 2nd film from the 2-pack I had making sure to put it on very straight and put the slider back on....PERFECT!
BTW, the slider won't work with any of the skins (IS, Ghost Armor, etc). I took the Ghost Armor off the back and now I have the Black Slider and Anti-Glare film on the front. Seems like a great combo. I'll post my thoughts about the white when it arrives. I'm happy to post pics if anyone wants....

What you have there is what is called an edge gate. Part of the injection molding process. I will say it is something they should have done a better job on cleaning up.

I just bought this case two days ago, and I'm loving it. It's thin enough not to add bulk to the phone, and the matte colored one has a nice texture to it.
I use with with a power support crystal clear film, but there's a trick to it. I originally had the film already placed before I got the case, and when I slid the phone in the case, it would induce air bubbles under the film at places where the slider would make contact with the film. So I took the film off, and reinstalled it with the slider case already on, and it works perfectly, both fit amazingly well. Just wanted to share my experienced

Just got the case and fitted it along with a Power Crystal antiglare. It is a really wonderful case. Tried several at the store out and the Slider really stood out as the best. Only problem is that my crystal film gets push with the case and I have a small bubble that will not go away unless I remove the case. Anyone else have this problem or able to fix it?

I had the problem as well, even worse with the Crystal filme. I decided to use my besk skin ever because of the adhesive aspect. It worked fantastic and I actually like the slight grip it gives, especially when typing.
Although another member had a fix, basically put the case on, then apply the film. It will still fit and do so in a way to prevent the bubbles.

I had the same problem with my PS screen protector but in my case it was just that I hadn't aligned the protector perfectly. Once I straightened it out a bit (easier said than done), no more bubbles. Loving the case!

Yeah, same here. You just have to make sure the screen protector is aligned perfectly. Probably the best way is to do like another member suggested and apply the PS film with the slider case already on the phone. Once you get it on perfectly, all is good to go.
The funny thing is, everyone was complaining about the power support screens having about 1mm of space around the edge of the screen that was not covered. Now that this case is out, if it were not for the space, this film protector would not work with the slider case. Haha. Guess they knew what they were doing over there at power support after all (or they just got totally lucky).:D

"The Slider Case for iPhone™ 3G is now available in Black matte and White gloss through the webstore at goincase.com and will be on store shelves soon.
We're taking it a step further and going beyond black and white for the iPhone 3G, so look for new Slider Case color ways to release in the future.
(Hint: the future is shiny for fall and bright for spring.)"
- I got this in an e-mail from InCase that was sent over the weekend.
I hope that by shiny they mean metallic. That'd be sweet.

No way. I had to take my Best Skin Ever off the back, although I still have it on the front.
In theory you could cram it in there with the skin on but you probably would never get it out without breaking the case. So yeah, don't do it.

ok, so i'm pretty sure i just ended my quest for MY perfect case set up. I received my black slider today, great case.....great feel, great style. I wanted to use the anti-glare shield with it. I did my research and read the forums, it is a very tedious process to put the shield on without getting air bubbles in the corners. I tried to line it up perfectly. no luck. on to the next shield, i tried to put it on with the case already on, every time i tried I had one corner that didnt quite lay right.
After 2 shields, I tried to convince myself that the naked screen was fine......so in a last ditch effort I decided to wash the shield with soap water and an old tooth brush, then held it under running water to remove any soap residue.
I then dipped the shield along with my fingertips in a tupperware that had lots of water and a little soap (if you have put on a bodyguardz you know what i am talking about) i then shook off the excess water and plopped it on the screen, with the case on as well.
This gives you wiggle room to set the shield in the correct position.......once you are happy with it, squeegie out the water with a credit card and have a towel to catch the water.
I hope this helps others with their frustration.

I've decided to take this case back and just use my best skin ever on the back, I had 1 extra.
The case is nice but it adds bulk, there is actually a gap between the back of the phone and the case. When I laid the case down next to the case the size difference made my mind up.

Guess it's a personal preference. Take your phone out and lay it next to the case then look at how much friggin bulk that case adds. I'm sorry but a clear skin that is hardly noticeable IMO is much better than adding a huge chunk of plastic over a beautiful phone. I still have my silicone case which goes over my BSE just fine so I can use that when I am out and about and feel like a clutz.
I guess drops are one thing, but that's just my job to be careful with it.

The BSE just got ripped off the back and I put the case back on, which I was set to return today on lunch. I guess I would rather have bulk than gravel indents on my phone.
Almost learned my lesson the hard way.

I really don't think the case adds much bulk. I was sitting with a class mate today who asked me if I had purchased an iPhone, I then took out my phone. Her first question to me was, "Why didn't you buy a case for it?" She laughed as she realized there was a case on it when she turned it around and did not see the Apple logo. I think Slider + PS anti-glare is the way to go. Thanks for everyones advice I was able to get that last remaining bubble out.

I am curious. Those who have the white case, notice any tendecy for scratching easliy. I got the black one in the hopes to avoid scratching since it has the matte finish and so far so good. But I would like to hear from those with the white cases if theirs are actually scratching or not. I do have a white iphone and kinda miss seeing the white color since I have the black case on it, so I may want to switch cases.

I ended up putting the case on first and then applying the PS anti glare. Just have to align it properly, it was a bit tedious taking a few tries. After that just a few rubs with a cloth to ensure proper fit and remove a small bubble on one end. Hope this helps.

Any tips on putting the iPhone into this case for the first time? I've tried and still had an inch or two to go before it got way too tight. Stop, I know you were thinking it... :p;):D
Anyways, has anyone else had this much trouble? I had a hard time taking it out after this attempt and noticed that it did scratch my phone ever so slightly. I was able to buff out most of the marks but some did remain near the top back side of the phone. And yes, I did make sure I have the 3G specific case! lol

Ghost Armor sent me a replacement after contacting customer service. I now have the GA on the front with the 3G black slider. I did love the anti glare, but I must admit, there is a (small) sacrifice to screen clarity. Just my opinion.
Still love the slider. The white one I had ordered arrived and is going right back. The black matte on my white phone looks and feels great.
Like others said, there's a huge personal preference factor. I'm way too tough on my stuff to just use GA only. I need the protection against banging the corners etc, not just the scratch protection. GA screen protector plus black matte slider = hopefully the last solution. I feel like I ruined enough of the other films by not leaving well enough alone. The GA screen protector is not going anywhere unless I peel it off. Very pleased with my solution and GA's cust service.

I just picked up the black matte slider from the Apple store here in Vegas. This is an incredible case. I had no problems with getting the phone in the case or with bubbles. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and I guess already had my PS Anti-Glare aligned well. It takes a little longer to take the phone out of the case, but I like that since it means the phone won't be slipping out accidentally. I had the white slider for the 1st gen iPhone and this one seems a bit thinner for some reason. I think my case search is over finally.

There seems to be an imperfection on just about all of them between the headphone jack and the switch on the top of the phone. It seems like it could be a spot where the finish may begin to peel away.

Was it peeling from where you buffed it or just on its own? I can say that I have one of their cases for my macbook that is made out of the exact same material and this has not peeled at all, and I have a wife and kid who mess with it all the time and have had it on for about 6 months. So I am hoping that the peeling issue some were reporting with the 1st gen case will not happen with this one. It may just be becuase you buffed it. I don't know though.
I am still thinking about the white one, but am afraid that one will scratch too much. One peels and one scratches. Take your pick I guess.

I noticed the shininess (sp?) thought it was glue or something, tried to lightly buff it out, which worked temporarily, but the shininess came back after a walk around the block with the phone in my pocket. Rubbing my finger across the shiny area caused whitish flakes to appear, and the shiny area got bigger.
Underneath appears to be more black plastic, but shiny.
And this is hereby the most times I have ever typed the word shiny in one day.

LOL. Yeah, i don't know. I remembered people with the first gen matte cases complaining of peeling. I think that this may just be the nature of the beast with this material. Prior to my iphone I had a HTC Touch which was made from the same material and the matte finish did wear off over time in the areas that came into contact with my case for it etc...I mean, it is just a rubber coating esentially glued onto plastic, so I guess it stands to reason.
Anyways, I don't know.
Someone with the white case chime in here and tell us if it resists scratches or no. That is what I really need to know so I can decide what to do.

I suppose it's just personal preference. The Griffin has a leather back whereas the Incase is just matte plastic. There are also some reports of the Griffin causing scratches  this may just be the nature of having a sliding case on a plastic back.

It's a nice case, but it doesn't fit well over my screen protector (as other people mentioned), plus it got the above mentioned "shiny spot" after being in my pocket for only 15 minutes for so.
I'll stick with the Griffin Nu Form for now. I wanted the slider because it's slightly sleeker, and protects more of the top and bottom of the phone, but it just didn't rev my engine (or something).

Well, I wish you all the best, but this is what happened to my first gen matte black slider, and it appears it may be happening again. This was about 2 weeks or so if I remember correctly. Once air got up underneath and the spiderwebbing started it just started peeling off like crazy. Underneath looked to be like the regular shiny black slider. I was hoping they had fixed this, but I'm certainly not taking a chance again. I bought the leather griffin case and it is pretty good, little more slippery than I would prefer, but looks nice.

Mine slides off very easily, only a little pressure is needed.
I hope that only certain batches are affected or the peeling will be more localised than the original.
I don't like the Elan Form as the fake leather looks cheap and for me something that doesn't really suit the non-business under 40-something person. Though I may end up buying it unfortunately if this case starts peeling.

I would say that case above is defective and it sounds like you got unlucky with another. I see no spots of peeling after almost 2 weeks and I'm sure if the problem was on all cases we would see a lot more threads considering how popular this case was for the 1st phone.
Yeah, and the Griffin is not as nice as this case, I had it and switched it for this one. It's bigger and after a while the fake leather just started looking cheesy to me.

I tried the Elan Form to hold me over until this case came out. If I hadn't been on lunch break, I would have turned around and immediately returned it after putting it on. The case was already peeling before I even put it on. You could tell that cheap pleather crap they put on it was going to easily come off.
This was just my experience, but that case isn't any less likely to peel then this one. I would say if you're worrying about peeling, the way to go would be the Slider glossy cases like the ones for the 1st gen (I think black is coming out soon).

First a number of people over a period of time had problems with the gen 1 matte coming off, so it likely wasn't just one batch. And, from what I've seen so far on the site there have been Gen 2 owners seeing it already on theirs. This would lead me to believe that Incase hasn't completely solved the problem. However, I'm sure how people use it makes a difference as well. I was in relatively hot conditions in Miami when I started seeing it, so ti could be heat related. If the case is not exposed to heat that much people may not see it as much. I don't know, but the fact that some are seeing it so early on their gen 2 Iphones makes me concerned.
I've been concerned about the pleather coming off of the Griffin too. I use it regularly in a horizontal hip pouch and so far so good. I wish it were a little more grippy. On my gen 1 Iphone I ended up with the shiny black Incase and it works well. I really liked the grip of the matte, but the shiny black wasn't too bad either surprisingly.
My personal decision is to avoid the Incase matte so that I don't have to deal with peeling again, and their less than stellar customer service department again. I'm going wait for the shiny black one to come out. I'll probably buy that one.
But good luck to all with the matte, it is a nice looking, not too bulky and very functional case.

Let me ask you this. Assume my case turns into a peeling mess, in theory could I just gently peel it all off and have a shiny case?
I mean it's a **** plastic case in the end, they all are overpriced junk made for pennies and sold for big bucks, but they protect the gem inside so that's what matters. But if I have this issue and just spent an hour making it a shiny case, it would be ok with me I guess.

It might take some time, but I bet you probably could. From what I could see it looked like the original shiny case underneath. There might be something different about it, but it didn't look any different to me.

I don't know if it would just peel right off like a sticker because it is bonded on-not just stuck on, but once it starts peeling you could possibly peel it all off by heating it up a bit or something--but of course I'm not condoning heating up your case! :)

Well I bought my Slider on ebay since it isn't out yet in the UK, so no chance for me exchanging the case.
It's been pretty cold here in the UK so the peeling off problem isn't due to heat. I've kept my case mostly in the pocket yesterday (was working most of the time). Think also the difficulties in taking the case off didn't help with the peeling off!
Oh well. I got my Vaja iVolution SP earlier today so guess I'll stick to that now. :p

Well I finally installed mine on the white case. It wasn't to tight at all. Very snug fit, which is what I want. The top portion that covers the chrome looks to be a tight fit also, helps keep the crud from working its way there. With a tight fit, there is less jiggling around for the bits of junk that get it to scratch up the chrome. The bottom portion that meets the top portion of the case is flush. No visible gap in the seam at all, looks to be very flush. All in all an "A" for this case.
Now all I need is a tiny Apple logo sticker to put on the back. :D
Now where can I find one of those.

Well yeah. Sometimes I don't want it in my pocket wearing jeans and such. Wearing my suit I don't need the holster. I slip it right in my breast pocket. In the car when I'm roughing it out, I'll put it in the holster and toss it in the car. Anymore questions?

Today my iPhone almost died.
I received my Incase Slider in white.
I was waiting all week for this.
I put it on with such comfort and it filled my heart to see it fit perfectly. It was too good to be true.
I decide that I should've cleaned my iPhone first before putting on the case.
So I "tried" to take off the case.
It didn't come out. Not the top part or the slider part. I was in shock. My old Incase Slider for my original iPhone never did that. I kept on trying and I struggled in attempting to take it off, but nothing.
Then I decided to call Incase. The rep, Linda, was marvelous. She told me to try to take it off or to take it to Apple for them to help me take it off. I decided to take it off but I scratched my iPhone severely, but it was my fault. I was gonna go to the Apple store soon anyways to get a replacement for the faulty screen with many dead pixels. But Linda said that she would ship me a new black slider and then if I didn't like the color, she would also give me a white one when the problem was resolved.
I ended up happy and I hope if you have a problem like mine don't hesistate to call Incase. They have the best customer service I ever came in contact with. :D

Everyone who has trouble taking the case off, try to stretch the side of the case (where the bezel is covered, try to stretch it slightly. I do it to the right side and it's fine) and pull out your iPhone.
I said before I had no trouble taking the case off, later on I did. But I stretched the case on the side a bit and it slide off smoothly. I have the white slider case

I just feel extremely disappointed by all these companies that is releasing cases which they don't test thoroughly beforehand, and turns out that the products have major defects.
I have tried on five cases so far for the iPhone 3G. 3 of them have problems:
Incase Slider - matte surface peeling off after one day, can't get the damn thing off
Griffin Wave - the hard screen cover was of the wrong size and gives funny air bubbles
Switcheasy Capsule Rebel - the soft case never fit the iPhone
All 3 companies have tried to redeem themselves by offering exchanges. Seems like not everyone is getting the equal attention though. I never got a reply from Switcheasy, for example.
Maybe money is just too easily made from us iPhone users.

Well crap, I said before that after one week my black incase slider was not peeling. This morning I pulled it out of my pocket and low and behold, there is an area where the matte texture came off. I mean it is not really noticeable, but what the heck.
So, one week and one day and some of it rubbed off already. Guess I will be taking it back to the apple store today.
The search continues.:(

I was having troubel getting the Slider Case on without inducing bubbles under the film at first also. So I placed the phone in the slider case and then placed the film on, it actually made it easier to install the film alligned and straight.

The trick is that the PS film has to be PERFECTLY aligned. Look VERY closely. If the film goes all the way to the edge of the screen (before the recess), the slider will most likely cause bubbles. Reposition the film so that it stops short of the edge on all 4 sides and the problem will be solved. It worked for me.
BTW, the best way to do this is to put 2 pieces of tape on opposite corners so that you can lift & reposition the film multiple times until you get it just right.

Well I have a free Slider coming my way. Long story short, I noticed a small section of matte finish peeling off my phone so I contacted customer service and she sent out a replacement. 2 days later I decided that I really wanted a different case so I returned it. I know it sounds devious but I shouldn't be stuck with a case I decided I'm not happy with just because I had an issue and got a replacement when I initially thought I was going to keep it.
This is a really nice case, but if you ever scratch this finish it's a domino effect of peeling. The glossy version may be the one to grab, too bad it's only available in white.

So I returned the black one to the apple store yesterday as I noticed a small section of the matte finish that peeled on mine as well just after a week of use. I got the white instead. For me, this is fine since I have the white iphone anyways.
One of the things I really like about this case is incase did a great job of making the white match the white of the iphone. One thing that I noticed with some of the other cases, specifically the white contour flick, is that the white case is a noticeably different shade of white than the phone.
I have noticed that the white case is tighter fitting than the black, but it is removable. I am guessing that maybe the initial run of the cases was not fit properly and now maybe incase has fixed the issue.
Anyways, this seems like a great case. I hope that it won't scratch to easily.:D

The customer service rep had me scan my receipt and detail my problem on the website form, then she prepared the replacement to be sent out. At that point I was still set on keeping the case, a day or so later I decided to try something else. Like I said, I wasn't going to feel obligated to keep this case just because I had a problem and was sent out a replacement, in the end I wanted something else. But once I get the replacement I still may use it now and then at the gym or something where I need major protection from a fall.

It will. Or at least, it did on my first gen iPhone. Seemed like it wasn't going to, so I stopped paying attention to it. Then one day I took the case off, and the chrome had scratches in several places. And that case was a tight fit. The secret is, once you put it on, plan on selling it with it, or with some other case.

I just wanted to add that I kept that phone, as I do the new one, in pants pockets, by itself (and I'm not a beach guy). Sometimes on the seat of the car, by itself. Little grains of this and that just come out of nowhere and get under the edges of that case, and not only that one. For instance, I'm seeing it happen with the Incase Protective Case, which answers your question about what I'm using now. I like that one surprisingly well, after not expecting to. The Apple Store gave it to me as a freebie after telling me they had the Slider and having me drive across town to get it, only to find out it was wrong. Anyway, for free it will make a nice spare, but it gets crud under its edges, too, and it will stretch out if taken off and put back on very often. My Slider is due at my house tomorrow. I just liked it so much, I had to have one for the iPhone 3G. You don't see the scratches if you leave the case on the phone (and don't think about it too much)! Good luck with yours; feel free to post occasionally as you continue to remain scratch-free.

Everyone that has a white incase 3g slider and find it difficult to remove can call customer support. On Monday 8/25 they received a new special batch of white 3g sliders that were made slightly bigger. The customer service manager assured me that it will not be difficult to take off. He sent one out to me on Monday and I received it yesterday. I put it on and it definitely is easier to take off. It didn't take two people to remove. So if you are having this problem I suggest you call and get a new one sent out to you because they only were shipped two new boxes of the slightly bigger white 3g slider.

That comes down to:
nearly full clarity with almost no reduction in fingerprints/smudges (crystal)
vs.
reduced clarity but virtually smudge-free (anti-glare)
I can deal with the reduced clarity, but not constant smudges. That's why I went with the anti-glare. I like it a lot.

AG FTW!
I've had both. After I switched to the anti-glare, I got my slider which made a bubble under my film. So I had to be a perfectionist and try to reapply the anti-glare. I screwed up 2 of them. Not sure how to fix one of these things after it gets even the tiniest piece of lint.
I went with Ghost Armor on the front. I was using it on the back before I got the slider but never used the front part.
I have invisible shield on my ipod touch but I wanted more protection from bumps and impact so I got the slider. I like the Ghost Armor screen protector. It's clear and any smudges wipe right off it plus I know it's strong as hell.
As far as I can tell all of the products in this category (skins) are similar. They claim on Ghost Armor that there's no orange peel look to it. I think that's not entirely true. I would say it is rarely noticable. Usually on a black screen with light reflecting off.
I don't know. After many configurations I'm enjoying this configuration in both looks and protection. White iphone, black matte slider, and Ghost Armor Screen Protector (although I think any of the screen protectors are solid, it's a matter of taste). My only gripe with the anti-glare came to watching movies.

I spoke to a CS rep at Incase about my Slider for the 2nd time and the rep told me that they received new bigger Sliders on Monday and they were beginning to ship on Tuesday from their warehouse. The rep told me that the iPhones that are having these problems are being made a little bigger at a different factory and that they have been making the cases according to the specifications they got online. Everything is being fixed and the new cases being ordered shouldn't have the problem anymore.

Anyone with report of bezel or body scratches from the slider yet? I have yet to see one on mine.
What concerns me though is that the openings for the camera lanes, earhphone and top of the rocker switches are not flushed with the body of the slider. Infact you can see it raised a bit. Enough to get lots of lint and junk in side the body of the case between your iPhone and the case.

To confirm...most of you using the Incase Slider for the 3G suggest applying the PS anti-glare film while the iPhone is IN in the Slider case. I should be receiving my anti-glare film today or tomorrow and wasn't sure if I should have the phone in or out of the case when applying it.
Correct. Put the phone in the case first and then apply the screen. This will help you to make sure the screen is on perfectly strait so that you avoid the bubbles that can occur if you do it the other way around and do not apply it perfectly. :D

Hmm same here, I returned my case and they received it last Friday. If yours was last Monday and mine was four days after.. ugh
Could you update me BoingoBongo if you got your refund yet?
I called them this morning and they said the Return Department received a bunch of returns on Thursday and Friday, and that mine was probably in there somewhere. The guy I talked to also said that since the UPS tracker showed it had been delivered to them already, he would mark it down as received and issue the refund today.
So if you still haven't gotten your refund, it will probably show up in a couple of days, but it also doesn't hurt to call. Their customer service was outstanding, and even though this one product didn't work out for me, I'll definitely buy from them again in the future. Awesome.

I'm loving the case with the anti-glare too. Regarding that imperfection on the top I had mentioned, I saw in someone else's pic, the same little mark (in between the headphone jack and sleep button).
I wonder if anyone else has that mark on their's as well. Here are a couple of pics of mine:
I have exactly same thing on top of mine

"The Slider Case for iPhone™ 3G is now available in Black matte and White gloss through the webstore at goincase.com and will be on store shelves soon.
We're taking it a step further and going beyond black and white for the iPhone 3G, so look for new Slider Case color ways to release in the future.
(Hint: the future is shiny for fall and bright for spring.)"
- I got this in an e-mail from InCase that was sent over the weekend.
I hope that by shiny they mean metallic. That'd be sweet.

i think it looks like spray-painted plastic, probably someone that had a matte black that was peeling and decided to experiment.

I have a white 16gb 3G. Bought the white incase slider 2 weeks ago. Fit & finish is excellent. No scratches yet. I put a coat of car wax on it and so far it still looks like new. Fits snug but not too tight - from local Apple store. I'd buy again!

Dang, car wax!!??? How slick do you want that thing to be. You have it slip outta your hand yet? Wow, that is bold my friend. :D

I was thinking of gettin this case too, but I got a couple of questions.
How slick does it make the phone? I mean I have the rubber 3G incase skin on my iphone and that feels "sticky" in my hands, but so much so it's kinda difficult to pull outta my pocket.
Also how much bulk will it add to the phone. And is the matte black really peeling off for everyone?

I went to BesBuy and found this RocketFish Universal Leather CellPhone Case. The size is perfect for the slider. It slips right in, as if it was made for it. NOt too loose and not too tight to cause stress on the case and plastic housing of the iPhone. It also swivels.
Thanks for this tip, I'm heading to Best Buy to find this.

I've had the black matte for 3 weeks and no peeling. The matte finish is not at all slippery. Can't speak to the shiny white.

Car wax is the way to go! I put a good coat of meguiars on my shiny white incase. Its not slippery at all. It put a good finish on it and thus far has held up great. I keep in my pocket, on my desk at work, or on my table and it does not have any scratches at all. Try it - you will like it. Great case, great fit, great looking.

My sincere apologies to anyone who went to Best Buy based on what I said. I thought I saw the Incase Slider this weekend there but it was in fact just the Incase protective silicone. I was just at the mall and stopped by BB to double check, sure enough I was wrong.
I feel like an idiot and hope nobody went because of my post, if you did, I really am very sorry.

I hope I don't step on any toes here, but I'm getting to my wit's end with this whole thing. Does anybody know if InCase is going to release a glossy black version of the Slider 3G? I've attempted to contact them twice. First time went without so much as an automated notification that my message was received. I'd get the white, but I'm not sure how it would look with my black iPhone. Thanks in advance.

it doesn't matter what color case you get, the only place that the actual phone will bleed through is around the ports/volume switch.

I have the Griffin Wave case, do you think the Silder is that much better? I like the Wave because it's slim and still adds more protection when laying the phone flat (screen side). But the slider is nice and sleek. The only thing I would be cautious about is if some dirt would get on the inside of the slider and you slide the phone which can cause scracthes. Anyone have tried both the slider and wave? If so which do you prefer?

Any slider case will have this negative effect -- that is just the nature of the beast. What people need to remember is that the case will protect against major drops, something that you would not get if you didn't have one. We will just have to live with the dust/case issue -- after all, the phone is in our lint covered pockets most of the time. What should we expect?

Yeah the more I think about it, the more I want to pick one up. And now that there's an Apple Store in my city, I don't have to wait for shipping :D Besides, nothing's stopping me from picking up a glossy black if/when it comes out. I used to always get the faceplates for my old Nokia candybar phones because I liked the customizability (and being able to switch the look when I felt like it). Thanks all for the input.

I'm a big fan of Incase's products. I used their leather sleeve for my first generation iPhone as soon as I got it on the 29th, and upgraded to the slider when it was announced. I've got a white slider for my iPhone 3G, but am most likely going to purchase a gunmetal variety slider now that they've been announced. From the looks of it, there doesn't seem to be a glossy black model in the pipeline.

Just picked up the white Slider at my local Apple Store and it's pretty darn sexy. The black bleeding through the holes doesn't look bad at all, and it looks like a brand new phone now. Still probably going for the glossy black if it comes out, but anybody hesitating on the white because of their black iPhone really shouldn't worry at all.
I wonder why the Canada online store doesn't have the gun metal and magenta ones. Kinda sucks but at least it shows that more colours are (hopefully) coming.
