OK to use USB hub to charge 2 iphones from 1 mains socket?

Could it damage the two iphones if they were charging from 1 mains socket, but a USB hub adapter was used to make two USB splitters and then charging the two iphones?

You should be fine. If there isn't enough power, then the charging circuits won't activate.
