i created a .dmg manually using Disk Utility. the disk image opens automatically when it is downloaded, which is great, but the window of the finder isn't centered on other macs with smaller screens – i've manually set the window to open at the center (or close to) of my screen, but on smaller screens (like a 17" iMac) the window is almost in the bottom left corner...

[EDIT] i mean bottom right corner...

is there anyway to center the windows of a .dmg after they mount?

It didn't cover it exactly, but I referred to this page:

Maybe there's something on there about this as well.

doesn't seem to be anything there... i've been following this site to make my .DMG which i found quite useful: http://el-tramo.be/guides/fancy-dmg

No. Put it near the top left corner as that is the "origin" for the desktop on all Macs.

yeah, that's what i ended up doing... i had downloaded a few apps to see where the disk image would open, most opened in the top left corner of the screen, while some (like AppZapper) opened in the middle... but app zapper probably opens at the bottom right on smaller screens...

*sigh*... oh well, guess we can't win them all
