There have been a lot of scams on eBay and even some here. Whenever you go into this kind of transaction it is very wise to be cautious, even wiser to be over cautious.
BernieV, as a newbie unfortunately you are a little more suspect than if you were a full member that people had gotten to know a bit. That's not to say that you are trying to pull a scam, just that you don't have the luxury of checking out as easily.
Don't take it personally.

berniev, why not just show a picture of your LCD screen and prove to people that you are telling the truth, if you cannot post a real picture for whatever reason, i highly think that whoever wants to buy this to think this is a scam....

Bernie says he no longer wants to sell either his LCD or his PB

Your backing out and claiming you decided not to sell was pretty weird to me... ...and, rightly so.
Bernie finally did contact MacRAND by iChat, and he answered some of my questions very satisfactorily including how he acquired the PB, from whom (unnamed relative) he bought it, and when and where it was originally purchased.
But everytime I tried to get a specific answer to even seemingly irrelevent questions, he bulked, telling me the same things he has reportedly told ssherman and others.

At this point, he has backed out of a face-to-face purchase of the PB in Florida for cash from ssherman's dad and does not want to use PayPal. He has made no indication of being ready, willing or able to acquire the original paperwork from his relative.
I don't know what else to think. How else is anyone going to feel comfortable dealing with Bernie?

What I can't understand is out of over 30 claimed serious inquiries
why he didn't FAX even one person copies of those documents along with an explanation as to how the PB came to be in his possession instead of the named buyer.

All anyone ever wanted, Bernie, was proof of your ownership and your right to sell the property offered FOR SALE and a reasonable method of purchase/escrow. Had you complied with normal business procedures, you would be nearly $3000 richer.
Ssherman even offered CASH in hand.

People usually get treated by the way they conduct their business.
Cannot see how anyone TREATED BernieV LIKE A THIEF, buyers just tried to conduct business by the rules.

Do you know and understand the rules of sales made between strangers?

bernie: you are the seller and thus the usual procedure is for the buyer to pay you first and then you deliver the goods. as such, the burden falls upon you to prove your trustiness. it is not the responsibility of the buyer to dig your info for your trustiness.

in addition, just because it's your property for sale does not mean you can pull out anytime. the ultimate decision, yes, falls on you, but as a seller, you have the responsibility to conduct your sale in honest and straightforward fashion. if you've had contact with some potential buyers and suddenly pulled out, you cannot complain how you are perceived.

your posts about being busy, etc. are all fluff. if you were serious and straightforward, that wouldn't have happened. a simple post saying "i'll only respond to emails from here on" would have sufficed. i cannot fault other posters here for being suspecious of you at all.

I understand what you are saying, but rand for the record only one person inquired about the sales receipt, I flew off the handle but I guess it was for the best
