Best 1/8" mic

I've got an iBook, and am looking forward to GarageBand. One thing I'd like to be able to do:

My friends and I sit around and make music. It's pretty fun, and it would be neat to be able to make simple recordings straight to CD... In order for us to listen to rehearsals.

For this simple application, does anyone have any recommendation as to the best mic for the money that I can just plug into my iBook and get good range with?

What are you trying to record? You're not gonna record the whole band with one mic.

You do know the iBooks don't have Audio In, right? You'll need a USB audio interface if you plan on recording with your iBook.

I heard a recording a guy did with the internal mic on his iBook and it sounded pretty good. Might be worth a shot.
