Question: Did you uninstall iTunes then reboot and reinstall iTunes? I'm just curious.

Yes, that's what I did. I've tried everything to solve this but no success. MY PC runs well, and I keep it clean and updated.

Maybe uninstall then go to C:/program files and manually delete the iTunes folder. You might then also use a registry cleaning program of some type or manually delete the iTunes registry keys (if your comfortable with that). Then reinstall.

The fix is to look at your firewall sittings for blocking software access to your network. Blocking the Apple software will cause an error at the start of the iPhone backup.
Un-Block the following software:
(not all will be shown on your system, some of the following are from older versions of iTunes)
Apple Mobile Device Service
AppleMobileBackup.exe [more than likely blocking this one is the problem]
AppleMobileDeviceHelper
AppleMobileSync
AppleSyncNotifier
iPCU
iTunes
iTunesHelper Module
Restart your system [just incase to clear any errors]
Start iTunes
The backup should now work if you have the drive space for it.
I hope this helps.
P.S. this was the cause on my Nephews system.

Windows firewall makes me want to scream. It has created so many problems for me in the past, mainly trying to run Java stuff and trying to use DirectX on sites.
