How much space does synced photos take up?

Sorry if this has been posted but i couldn't find anything on the search.

So i was wondering how much space does synced photos on your computer to your iphone take up?

Post your stats of what they were on your computer and now on your iPhone and how many photos you have on your phone.

I currently have 12GB of photos and around 7800 photos, so i was just wondering if they would fit onto an iphone, if not, no biggie.

My iPhoto gallery on my iMac is 8.85 GB. The entire gallery when synced with my iPhone takes up only 1.32 GB.

Some major downscaling.

my photo library is just 690 Mb, but it is taking 3,98 Gb on the iphone, same on the ipod touch. It is really annoying... is this a bug? Or just another feature of this our device?
