iPod iPod Mini problems

My mini failed me and is showing the folder icon and the sad ipod icon every once in a while and wont be recognized by my computer. If I replace the HDD inside with a CF card will that fix the problem? Or is the issue with some other hardware internally?

did you try formating your ipod most problem i encountered in my ipod was fix after formating it.

I've tried to format the iPod, but my computer won't recognize it and neither resetting or forcing to disk/diagnostic mode are working. Just wondering if this is a sign of worse problems than a failed HDD

just put in a 8gb, 16gb or 32gb CFcard and it should be fine, anyway minis with flat batteries fo for about $40 tops on ebay so just rip out the logic board if the CF wont solve it

a-data cf works fine in my mini.
