Changing sync priority with iphone and itunes, eg prioritizing music sync over backup

Has anyone figured out how to change the order that itunes syncs? The backing up stage takes a long time, and with the addition of the apps the sync can take awhile. It's very inconvenient if I just want to grab a new album before I head out the door.
 
I haven't figured it out, but I have found that if hit the "x" inside of the iTunes Status Window, it will stop the backup, then sync music, videos, and Applications like normal.
