Has anyone downloaded the gps kit from the app store? I was thinking of buying it, but I'm kind of curious of how accurate it is. I was thinking of using it while hiking or jogging, but I am looking for something that is fairly accurate.

I use iTrail and it works quite well. You can even upload your data to make Google maps (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=101584243602804180866.000454b030304588b3cff) of your course. It also calculates distance to speed and altitude. For me the only big missing feature is a trip (trail) timer. Though it looks like it will be added in a future update. It's also cheeper that the GPS Kit.

I got the program yesterday and am very happy with it so far. The guys that built this must at least play outside, because in my opinion, almost everything works as it should!

I've had it for a few days now and it's great! If you lock the screen, it will stop tracking you though (I actually JailBroke my iPhone just to install Insomnia because of this app! Now, I just throw it in my pocket and when I get home, email myself the KML file and look at it on Google Earth).
The details it gives are great. Speed does not work properly when going slowly (it keeps jumping between 20MPH and 0 when I'm walking at about 3)but apart from that it's pretty accurate.
Well worth £5.99 if it means that I don't have to carry my 7 year old Garmin with me.

Yes 3.2 is out now and like you probably know you can turn the light sensor on so that when in your pocket the screen turns off.
I am waiting permission to post about the new Easter Egg found in 3.2 there are some great features found in it but do not want to post prematurely. I will post a link here when I am given permission to talk about it on the web.

If your wanting to track hikes / walks try RunKeeper. It is very good and there is even a free version. You can even have it running with your screen locked, to save battery. Only downside is it is it is effectively a logger, so you can't see where you are when using it but it's great for seeing where you've been when finished, showing a nice track on Google and keeping all your previous tracks on file. Really a traing tool but good nontheless.

I've tried at least 5. The clear winner is MotionX-GPS. I even use it over the built-in Nike+.

Check out the sweet Easter Egg (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=8071833#post8071833) in GPS Kit 3.2!
Thats makes this a 4th advantage GPS Kit has over all of the competition.
Yeah The Nike+ thing is pretty lame isn't it, well unless you have like all the remote and shoe sensor

This fella needs to stop posting in all GPSKit threads and stick to one.
Can an Admin lock the year old threads?
