Drobo ver 2 or ver 1 for use with Airport Extreme

From what I can tell the only benefit to the Drobo Ver 2 is the firewire connectivtiy. I am looking at getting a Drobo and an airport extreme. The drobo share seems to accomplish everything the airport extreme can do apart from the drobo share has firewire.

Question: If I am not going to use the firewire only the USB will the drobo ver 1 connected to an airport extreme be satisfactory? any reason to get ver 2?
 
I have Drobo(v1) + Droboshare connected to an AEBS, and they run flawlessly together.

The only way a v2 could be faster, is if you were directly connecting to your Mac, using the firewire............
