Hi,

I'm purchasing my 3.06 iMac today and buying a 4gb kit from Crucial. I currently have a MacBook and wish to put the iMac's stock 2gb RAM into my MacBook.

All seems well as they are the same chips and what not, the confusion only comes in where my MacBook takes PC2-5300 and the stock iMac RAM is PC2-6400.

This sounds fairly incompatible, however, i was wondering if the MacBook would simply read it at the slower speed and still have it work?

As you noted, the new iMacs come with different RAM that what is currently used in the MBs/MBPs. This RAM cannot simply be swapped from one to the other, so your plan won't work. Sorry!
