Major plane crash at Madrid airport

It's only just happened so no links just yet. It's on tv. Crashed on take off fully fueled. Death toll is a bit sketchy so ignore my first post. 176 passengers on board 45 confirmed dead so far.

Awful news. Wonder what caused it. Heard there was an engine fire on take off, reminds me of the concorde crash. Does anyone know if it actually got airborne, or did it just skid off the runway into a field?
 
According to a surviver, they got off the ground, but couldn't climb, then a wing dipped toward the ground. I hope who ever let if fly after the mech problems gets it good. A plane that is major delayed for mechanicals, should be swapped out for another.

It depends on the mechanical. We're not so sure that the mechanical had anything to do with the crash. It might have, but still, I'd rather give the mechanic the benefit of the doubt until all the facts are in. The vast majority of mechanical issues have little to nothing to do with the overall safety of the aircraft.

It'll be interesting to see what happens. There are few mechanical failures that could singly bring a plane down like this.

I'm told it was a mechanical failure that led to the activation of one of the reverse-thrust actuators - that would certainly cause the wing on that side to dip, and if you're that close to the ground...🙁

Yeah, having a bucket deploy right after rotation is bad news, to be sure. 🙁
