Sleep light

The light on my Macbook slowly dims and brightens when I close it. It does this regardless of whether it is sleeping or not. I read that the pattern of that light could mean a problem with the RAM. The notebook is only a couple weeks old. Is this normal?

Unless you've installed any hacks (I'm guessing you haven't) the computer goes to sleep whenever you close the screen and wakes up whenever you open the screen, even if you don't put it to sleep first.
