How did 2.0.2 affect your 3G phone?

Reading here I keep seeing what seems like a lot people having problems after updating to 2.0.2, with one thing or another, but articles I'm reading on the web seem to indicate that some people have been helped by 2.0.2, so I was just curious who the majority are.

I'm answering "Seems worse" because my 3G acts up every now and then, as does GPS. Neither of which ever acted up with 2.0 or 2.0.1.

Please only respond if you have a 3G, since the 3G problems seem to be the main concern.

I think it switches from edge to 3G much faster. That's about it.

It hasn't affected my phone, but the phone has spawned way too many of these silly ass polls.

"I have not noticed any difference whatsoever" - this is what I voted and it wouldn't necessarily be a problem were it not for the insane amount of bugs I'm experiencing. (for an apple os of course :p)

I think the backup speed might be better. Other than that no difference. So I'm in the "maybe a little better" camp.

my 3g is very sensitive and on the first floor i used to have some 3g now it goes to edge more often then 3g and also in my room on the 2nd floor its on 3g , but it also goes to edge a lot more and sometimes i have to click the network tab and fix it to make it find 3g right away, instead of me waiting.

it made it to sensitive when there is def. 3g in the area.
i think 2.1 will have the 3g fix.

I found that installing apps from the iPhone works a lot better now, no more waiting 20 minutes to install apps

I don't notice any difference between 2.0.1 and 2.0.2. My 3G connection has always been very good; that may be why. As for the keyboard and contact lags, they got much better with 2.0.1, but not at all with 2.0.2.

I have lost the ability to really use 3G. Although it shows I have full 3G reception, I cannot access webpages or email over 3G. It's kind of frustrating. Switching to Edge seems to help a bit. When sitting next to a friend, his iphone has no issues after the update but mine does. /sigh.

My 3G reception seems more stable. Safari is still crashing on me (which only started after 2.0.1). I can't speak to app install times - they were never that bad for me, and syncing time is about the same (5-10 mins).

My GPS location in Google maps seems to work now in seconds instead of 30-60 seconds if at all.

Data speed-wise, I thought that 2.0.2 was slowing my iphone down but I just did a speed test after 11pm at home and I got 2.24 Mbps while I had been getting 0.4-0.6 Mbps earlier in the evening from home in the same location.

This leads me to believe that data speeds are affected by network congestion and that some poor Americans are victims of AT&T over selling their network in their area instead of installing enough 3G towers.

Overall, i haven't experienced anything different with regard to 3G signal/reception. I get 2-5 bars of coverage, other than intermittent drops that can be extremely annoying, i can deal with it as long as it eventually gets fixed, as it's simply "acceptable" for the time being, but not up to advertised standards by any means.

I am happy to report that i have had virtually no issues with my 3G in the month that i have had it (I've only had to do a soft reset 3 times, all because i was updating multiple apps within the phone and it froze). The one thing that has consistently annoyed me has been the painfully-long backup process, which would take me an average of 2 hours before, but with 2.0.2 i am now down to 25-30 minutes (just did a backup about an hour ago), and this is with my 8 GB filled with 950 songs, 2 full length movies, about 100 photos and 64 apps. While 30 minutes is still long, it's a lot more bearable than 2 hours. When the 3G issues get resolved and 2.1 adds some new features, i'll be an extremely satisfied customer. :)

I've found two solutions. 1) Restart the phone, this has worked for me every time. 2) Hold the home button until safari is force-closed. This seems to work too, but may not be as reliable. I generally just restart the whole phone. This never happened on 2.0 or 2.0.1, which is why 2.0.2 pisses me off. 3G just randomly dies. I've had edge die once in the same fashion, and I've also had GPS do the same thing (non-stop spinning wheel while trying to locate me until I restarted my phone, then it found me in 5 seconds - never had a problem with GPS ever before 2.0.2). Basically, before 2.0.2 I was in the 2% of iphone users, the 2% who DIDN'T have problems that is, but now I guess I'm right there with the majority.

I'm surprised to see the poll so even, though. Evidently 2.0.2 has helped about as many people as it's hurt. Weird.

For me, 2.0.2 helped my connectivity. Under 2.0.1, in some locations, 3G wasn't allowing any data to be transmitted to/from the iPhone. But when I had a strong signal, I got very fast speeds.

Now with 2.0.2, I can connect and send/receive data anywhere, but the speeds are a little slower under 3G.

So overall, I like 2.0.2. I'll take slower connections for better connectivity.
