quick stupid question

After unlocking, all i have to do is take out the ATT sim and put in a currently active t-mobile sim and the phone will automatically pick up t-mobile correct? Then in order to get data, just have to call up t-mobile and get the data plan and it will work on the iphone right?

i know its a stupid question that i should know, but im trying to sell my iphone2g and the person wants it unlocked, when ive only ever jailbroken it.
 
Yes, after unlocking, that is true.

Only with the iPhone EDGE, as there is no unofficial Unlock for the 3G.

Yeah, it'll work, but only with the 2G. I see you're selling it. If you're selling it for a 3G, don't. You won't be able to use T-Mobile, unless you get RebelSIM or something like it. Also, with the data, just get the $5.99 one, and get the "TZones Hack" from Cydia. It's cheaper.
