Reactivating original iPhone then upgrading?

I'm interested in reactivating my original iPhone with the 2-year contract and then upgrading to the 3G iPhone in a month. Will I qualify for the upgrade price or I would have to pay the full price?

You will qualify, unless AT&T has changed the policy.
