2%. Anything less tastes like milk flavored water. Whole is of course better tasting, but eh.

How about an option for people who don't drink milk?

I don't drink milk straight, but I put 2% in my coffee and in my protein shakes.

I've gone through phases. I grew up on 2%, but switched to skim once I graduated from college. Eventually got tired of it, and compromised on 1%, which is what I still drink today.

And of course, we buy chocolate milk by the gallon as well.

I would but i cant edit the poll...maybe if one of the moderators are nice enough they can add that option?

Myself I grew up on Whole Milk Vitamin D ... Now I been drinking skim.

Well, thats what my parents bought for me as I grew up, and I cant stand to drink anything else. Like apfhex said, it tastes like milk flavored water, which to me is horrid.

I hear ya, I guess I was thinking geography... Just curious about the reaches of whole milk I guess...

Now mostly 1.5% milk.

Been slowly weaning myself from whole milk that I drank when I was a kid. Worked on a dairy farm. Free milk -- as much as we wanted. That was truly whole milk. No pasteurization or any treatment. Just straight from the cow. Yum! 🙂

Isn't all milk fortified with Vitamin D?

Anyway, I don't care much for milk, but on the occasion that I do drink it (usually in cereal), I prefer 1% or skim. Soy milk is also quite tasty, as is chocolate milk.

I have always wanted to know what fresh milk is like...is it sweeter like they say?

1% for me. I usually drink chocolate because it's got the 4/1 ratio of carbs to protein as part of my eating regiment for workouts.

it is amazing. I used to buy this fresh milk straight from the farm in glass bottles in madison wi. sooooo good. I avoid milk in NYC but will get flavored milk here and there

I detest milk. More specifically, I detest what passes for milk these days...

I grew up with fresh, local milk delivery by a milkman - 6 glass pints. Rich, delicious and nutritious - I even had to scoop off cream...

Though I can't be sure - I am pretty sure it was unpasteurized - which is illegal in the US (iirc).

Though pasteurization obviously kills many potentially present harmful bacteria - it also kills many beneficial ones (such as those who aid in milk digestion), and various beneficial enzymes - which aid in mineral and vitamin absorption.

It is too bad that local, fresh milk can't be brought to the US market...

Just my 2 cents...

A handful of states allow raw milk to be sold in stores and about half of the states allow it to be sold at the farm. I also happen to know a couple of people who have gotten very sick from it. 😱

Right out of the cow, of course it is a bit warm, but the taste is heavenly. When milking, I used to squirt a bit directly from cow to my mouth just to have a bit of enjoyment. Of course different cows produced different milk and have different butterfat content. So I would aim for which one I was thirsty for. 🙂

So true. Milk from the store is a far cry from fresh milk.

Here in Japan, the milk is very good.

Nothing like having your own half and half for cereal, coffee, milkshake, etc.
