This song was Tom's only Top 40 hit in the United States, although he with and without Red Rider, had plenty more hits in his native Canada.

Dreck. Pure, posing dreck.
Better when they were Red Ryder, before they were Tom Cochrane and Red Ryder, Before it was Tom Cochrane, rock star.

Lunatic Fringe was used for a Microsoft Office commercial back around '01/'02 :(
he received a honourary doctorate at the school I go to last year, it was pretty neat :)

Red Rider is usually off doing their own things now days, yet still tour from time to time with Tom, the bassist of Red Rider is in a band called the "Bachman-Cummings Band" which is essentially "The Guess Who" in this day and age
I really like TC & RR's Symphony Sessions album, the bass intro to "Human Race" pumps me up a bit, and being backed by an orchestra is amazing, hearing Life is a Highway backed by an orchestra (not on that album.. but saw it in concert myself) is pretty amazing
