Hey everyone. It looks like Best Buy might be getting ready for new MacBooks and MacBook Pros!!:D
...They're gettin' rid of some of the old stuff which may also help them get rid of the current stuff as well. Somebody's going to buy it...maybe some people will buy it and resell it to some clueless person for the current ($1299) price or just a little bit lower. But eventually they'll sell out and then people will be forced to buy the current ones. Who knows. It looks like a pretty good strategy.

Here's the link:

Yep. There's no reason to think they're not going to update these things in the next 3-8 weeks.

Well, I can't argue with you because you could be right, but why are they selling them now? They weren't there a few weeks ago.

Wow, didn't even notice they were the old ones. Whoops. It's only $50 off the MacBook, I have no idea why anyone would go for the older version for that low of a price cut.

That's not the point...really. What I'm trying to point out is that they're trying to get rid of them to make room. Whether they're a past model or the current model.

Because $1099 gets you a 2.1ghz Core 2, with 1gb RAM, and a Combo drive.

For $50 less you can get a faster processor and a DVD burner.

That is a mid range macbook which is normally $1299 so its $250 off. But for an extra $50 you could get the current mid range macbook refurbished from apple.

Thanks for mentioning this. I forgot to add that. Why would people buy the most recent one with its stupid combo drive for $1099. This may be older but it's the mid range $1299 model for $1049. You actually save $250.

But you CAN watch a DVD on a combo drive... You just can't burn them, unless I am very mistaken.

Also, the reason the fact that this is the previous gen doesn't mean anything about the new gen is because Best Buy is just trying to move that model completely out of stock. Now, when the current model goes on sale, then you can read something into it.

having the combo drive or not has nothing to do with watching movies. And DVDs have a lot more function than just videos. (and yes, the only function difference is that you can't burn DVDs)

Of course they are getting rid of MacBooks.

I was informed by a MR user that we all pretty much know that there will be updates soon, but the hard part is figuring out what those updates will be.

Interesting...Just checked Best Buy and the only two apple laptops are the older 2.2ghz models, both listed at Outlet Items.

Apple is a lot like Bose in this area. Ever noticed there aren't really any price cuts on current generation devices? From anywhere? Maybe 10 bucks here and there or a free case, but no real price slashes from third parties
