None. This would fall under accidental damage, which is never covered by AppleCare. In very rare instances is any kind of case damage covered (ie, known defect of product causes case damage, such as the magnet+palmrest problem on earlier MacBooks), but that would not be the situation here if the outer case is damaged.

Even IF they replaced it for you (fee or no fee), they would swap black for black and white for white, since the color you have is the one you paid for.

wow, that is the lightest accidental damage I have ever heard.

The extent of the damage makes no difference. If it is not a defect of the computer, it is accidental.

Tell me this: if you had left the computer on the same desk without moving it or closing/opening it, would this damage have occurred during normal use?

I have an earlier macbook (about a year and a half old) and the palm rests have started to break off on the right edge. Would apple cover that for free, or would it only be covered by apple care...or..would it not be covered at all?

Yes.. and no. Sees to depend on the Apple Store Genius - some members have had no problems well out of warranty (2 years old and no AppleCare). Others have been told "no - go away". Seems to be dependent on the condition of the rest of the machine - if it all looks well-cared for then more chance of a replacement topcase.

Worth a shot - nothing really to lose
