These are two separate questions. The scenario is OS 10.4.x connecting to a Windows 2008 file server using SMB, AD authentication.

First, the case sensitivity. When I connect, the share name always ends up in caps. Is there any way whatsoever to force it to use exactly what the share name looks like (eg, "FolderShare")? Or at least trick OS X to thinking that... We had to move files from one server to another, and files that Quark reference are obviously all "missing" now. And Quark says there's no easy way to fix all that....

Regarding browsing speed, locally (10Mbps network in this case), icon mode browsing is fine. Stuff generates as it should. However, over a remote connection, it's painfully slow. Anyone know why? The same data when it was on a Mac file server was fine over AFP. slower than locally obviously, but it was bearable.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'm game. Thanks!
