I would stop using it immediately and remove it from the computer. There is risk of fire and explosion. Then bring it back to an Apple store or similar and buy another one.

even if i can only slighty feel it? i cant even discern there is a bulge by looking at it

wow look at these reviews....all exactly the same as what im experiencing

I see, but to be safe I would take it to an apples store and let them check it.

Did you calibrate it recently? You could try that at least but keep an eye on it.

Better to be safe than sorry, if the battery explodes or causes a fire, yes you may get a new MacBook, but think of what else may happen.

Take to Apple and get it replaced.

no i havent calibrated it recently. howevereach time i unplug it and let it run, it will run longer than previous (i think)

i did the power management reset and the batt update firmware

however, i saw this as well
http://www.apple.com/support/macbook_macbookpro/batteryupdate/

seeing how i bought mine JUST over 2 years ago, looks like im out of luck. think i should call anyway?

edit: system profiler says my battary condition is good with a cycle count of 30, not the 10 coconut batt reported

Do a calibration and take it to the store. See what they say and then you can decide what to do. I would personally change it, since a deformed battery (even if slightly) is usually a sign that something is wrong internally.

Keep us informed!

how do i calibrate it? the computer just shuts down at random batt levels when running off it. aka i cant run the batt down to 0% charge

this just sucks as i dont have applecare and this seems to be a pretty big defect imo

ugh

Well, I must say that 10 cycles in 2 years means you haven't used the battery much and that may be the cause of the malfunctioning. At least a cycle per month is what Apple suggest.

As I already said maybe at the store they can tell you more about that program. Just give it a try.

crap, taking the batt out makes my macbook run at like half speed.

i go from a geekbench of 2500 to 1300 with the batt out

not cool. not a cool way to start morning lol

Yeah, it's due to the fact that to run at full speed the MacBook will draw power from the battery if needed. Without battery it will reduce the speed to avoid power loss.

I called apple and got a replacement battery for my Macbook even though it is over 2 years old. I didn't pay for the call either because they said they said i could ask a few simple questions without getting charged. Basically i had the issue debugged before i even rang and explained that to them.
