Hey guys, I'm thinking about buying a wired USB Apple keyboard, but am wondering if the 2 USB ports on it are powered at all. I have a wireless mouse that charges a spare battery through usb, would I be able to plug that into the keyboard? or an external HD? Thanks!

They just pass the power through. They can't be powered since there is no power cable for the keyboard. I believe that Apple has the specs for the pass-through power, just compare that to the power requirements for your mouse and see if there is enough power supplied by the keyboard. If you have an Aluminum iMac, there is nothing to worry about.

From the Apple Keyboard site (http://www.apple.com/keyboard/):

*Devices that draw high power from the USB connection, such as iPods, hard drives and some flash drives, can only be used with the new keyboard when it is attached to the aluminum iMac.

Alright thanks guys, seems like I won't be able to charge the mouse through that port, but I could use my external HD (which has its own separate power supply).
