I dropped/scratched mine ... would you get a new one?

I've dropped my 1 month old iPhone 3G, and have scratched the back .. badly. I used to have it in the jelly case, but it looked and felt nicer without it. I can get another one for free (with my carrier reward dollars) ... should I and then just keep that case on!?!?

Well if it is scratched badly and you can legally get a new one without making up some defects on the iPhone then I would say go for it.
 
Really? Don't you think if you dropped it once you are just going to drop your next new one as well? Seems pointless to me. Put the case back on and you won't even see it.
 
Ugh. It depends on if the scratch REALLY bothers you. I'd never be able to handle the iPhone with a severe scratch on it. Just put it up on eBay, pay a bit extra, and get a nice new one.
 
If you can really get one for free, do it. You can sell your old one to somebody who doesnt care and make some good money

heres a much much cheaper option.. www.colorwarepc.com

just have them paint the back
 
if getting the new one does not preclude you from getting one after that, should the second one have an issue, get lost, dropped, etc., then by all means, if the scratch bugs you, get a new one. you can easily sell the scratched one, scratch and all, for decent coin.
 
warranty does not cover you being clumsy.

are you sure your 'carrier reward dollars' are able to go towards an iphone? i wouldnt be suprise if the iphone wasn't included
 
I would recommend an iStyles for the back. It should solve your problem.

Go back to the apple store. Explain your situation and they should change it for you. Better still buy the one year extended warranty. I've seen those ppl changing phones for weird reasons.

of the few I've heard.

* The phone does not go on silent most of the time
* Home button works but not always..

I know this as I practically go to the store weekly.

Those aren't "weird" reasons, those are hardware defects...unlike someone dropping their phone, which isn't covered under any warranty. Seriously, Apple isn't responsible if you're a klutz.

I would say be a man and take responsibility for your actions.

Since you even asked this question it is unlikely you will be the former for a long time, and not do the later for even a longer time.

Wow read much? He never said anything about going into Apple and lying to them about some defect to get a new phone. He mentioned he had some reward program point thing that would somehow get him a new phone.
Chillax dude.
 
Everyone who's jumping on this guy about being a klutz clearly hasn't even read the OP's first post. He never said he wants Apple to replace it, he said he wants to buy a new one using rewards.
 
:apple:if you can get a new one do it, but then get something like a BSE, Body Guardz, or an Invisible shield for the back. No case, no bulk and its scratch resistant. I have the IS on mine, and it isn't totally scratch proof but i really dont are as long as it keeps my phone from getting scratched. :apple:
