I drive about 12 miles each way. It's not too bad. Most days those 12 miles take around 14 - 20 minutes, depending on what time I leave. If I leave during rush hour, those 12 miles can take over an hour. :-(
This is why I work 7 - 3:30. An hour before any of the mess.

There was a similar thread not long ago:

Slightly different, I guess, because it was time-based instead of drive-distance-based.

About 4 for me as well. It only takes about 10 minutes to drive but if I tried to catch a bus it'd take at least 45 minutes.

Zero: I walk for 10-15 minutes then get a computer controlled train (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Docklands_Light_Railway) to work (about 10 more minutes). I can (and have) walked the whole way. Takes about 45 minutes walking.

I'd say about 7 or 8 one way. It's amazing how the drive in and back becomes so monotonous that you to work and realize you don't remember driving in.

Wow...never thought of it that way. I have the news on the entire way and just arrive at work and get out without thinking about it at all. Sad.

On the days that I drive, it varies.
Minimal is around 10 miles. (most common)
Maximum around 80 miles. (2-4 times per month)

I partially work on site so mileage varies depending on the number of sites I visit, scheduling and site location. Most days are around 15 miles though some are over 80. Some days are none if I only have customers dropping off equipment to be repaired.
For two years of college I commuted 45miles each way to school. I was also at school from 9AM to 9:30PM 4 days a week at that school for a semester with a straight 6 hour break spent in the library studying, doing homework and reading various literature (obviously I pulled a 4.0 that semester) Fridays were shorter, other semester were a more sane 10AM to 9PM 3 days per week. I always took the classes I needed for a semester no matter how much they were dispersed throughout the day.

23 miles one way, down from 26 one way, though small amount, more highway so better mileage, and a lot shorter time. Close to half the time it use to take.

About 6.5 miles one way. About half the time I drive and half the time I ride my bike.

Normal day would be 10 miles. But can go up to 120 dependent on city I am in.
I can do this trip quite quickly, filter through all the traffic on my motorbike.

just long enough to make a bike ride unpleasant. and well.. part of the ride is very, very boring so it makes it had to ride. and some early days so i end up driving when i know i shouldn't.

For my job, I drive roughly 250 miles a day, five days a week.
But if you want to get technical, just my drive to my field area is about 90 miles to and 90ish miles back home. The rest is going about my daily work.
At least the company I work for gives me a company car with a company paid gas card!
~Crawn
I don't drive to work. My office is about 3 blocks from my apartment, and I only drive if I need to go somewhere during lunch.
It still doesn't beat the 50ft commute I had from January '06 through March '06, when I lived on the same property as my office.

currently 12-13 miles each way and by the looks of things it will stay that way for the next year. Then I could be moved to another job site on the opposite side of town.

90 mile round trip per day, and its a crappy busy route too!
I've been offered a new job where I can work from home all the time, but I'm not sure if that's the right move for me...... but god I could do with getting out of the traffic (and spending less on fuel!)

I'm not ashamed of driving approx 3 miles to work. My partner and I work in the same place so we essentially car-pool. Most days I need my car at work to then go to various clients or hospitals (with heavy equipment) to do filming, have meetings.
3 miles worth of petrol, wears and tears on the vehicle are significantly cheaper than two bus tickets ( which would take an hour, with a change, and quite a long walk ).
So yup - not the best 'green' option - but it's not a tank of a vehicle - and it means we can carry all the plastics and card from work back home, to put thru our recycling :)

I used to drive 5000 miles a month when I was working in the sales position in the states. My record was I drove non-stop from NYC to Charlotte NC in 10 hours (I admit I had to stop 2 times to get gas for my company car and take a leak while doing that).

I drive .5 miles to work every day. Five minutes to get to work and most of that time is waiting at traffic lights.
Most of my work time is spent in a car putting a few hundred miles on it dailey.
