lately ive been having an issue shutting down my macbook. i'll close all the programs and goto the apple menu and select shutdown. and confirm. then it clears the desk top and then the menu bar on the top disappears, and it sits there. i have to close the screen, then open it. and when i prompts me for a password i select switch user and shut the computer down from the login screen...

Also, you can force-shutdown your MacBook by holding down the power key until the computer shuts off.
