Had to repost since i left out some info....ok here goes....Just realized my video card is going bad and have an ATI Radeon 9600 XT card w/ 128 mb ddr laying around and was wondering if the two would be compatible? ive heard some rumors about being able to tape over some pins and make it work (http://themacelite.wikidot.com/pins-3-and-11 but was wondering if there were any other answers. The box doesnt mention that it works w/ macs, only windows, but im hoping for a miracle hear. Also the box says its 4x and 8x compatible.

The Radeon 9600 XT will work just fine, as they made Radeon 9600's for Mac. You just have to flash it to a Mac BIOS.

any help on how to do this?...as you can tell i have no idea

would the taping of the pins be an alternative solution?

Please don't post an identical thread twice, here is your original thread:

i know this is frowned upon in the forum world but had to since i left out some information that is vital to the solution if there is one. i did indicate that i had to repost in my second one though and did not see it as a big deal...if there was a way for me to delete my original i would have done so.

apologies for any inconvenience this has caused anyone. and m1stake: thanks for the replies i only wish i knew how to flash to a mac bios.

It'll work but only through the VGA port, DVI is disabled

what will work? the taping? the card itself no mods required? the flashing?

Just google "flashing 9600XT for mac" and related queries.

Also in the future, you can just post in the existing thread with new information :)
