Panasonic TZ5 won't connect to my Macbook Pro: USB power drain?

Hey, does anyone have this problem with this or any other camera? It says the camera is taking too much power from the USB port and won't receive it. Even if the Battery is full and the computer is plugged in.

I need to be able to connect without going around and taking to SD card out and using a reader. I've already corrupted one that way. Please let me know how I can just go in direct.
