I am not a developer, but I am trying to work with someone who is.

Do you pay the fee at laurch of your app. or do you pay to use the SDK?

I don't see many new apps. on a daily basis. Does Apple make it easy to find when your app. is approved and on itunes?

I edited in numbers to your post.

1. You pay it whenever, you can use the SDK for free, then pay when you need to test on your device/upload to the store. Or you can pay it before you even start with the SDK, that is up to you.

2. There are a lot of new apps every day, atleast a dozen usually. Typically your app will stay in the top 5 pages off 'All iPhone/iPod Touch Applications' for about 2-3 days, and you can always search for your app name, or development company name.

The $99 can be paid anytime...but you must pay it in order to actually submit your app to the App Store for review.

You also must pay it in order to test applications on the device (which is useful considering how depending on what application you're making, the simulator gives different results than the device itself).

All iPhone Applications on the left of App Store, then click sort by Release date.
