I have been searching high and low for a simple voice chat utility that is cross platform between Mac and Windows. I tried iVoice with NO success what-so-ever. I tried running Skype in VPC but the audio chopped like a machine gun! Can someone suggest a working program? I've looked on macupdate.com & versiontracker.com with no success.

Many thanks

www.ivisit.com

It's free, it has text, voice and video (each are independent).

Works pretty good with OS 9, OS X and Win2k...

My bad in the original post, I did not try iVoice, I did try iVisit. I had no luck at all with it. We were able to etsablish a connection but not able to get the voice to work at all. We are both on 300kbs cable connections as well. The interface was confusing and clunky. Thanks for the suggestion though. Maybe I am just spoiled with iChat AV but I was hoping for something similar.

It has push-to-talk that for some reason is on by default - you have to uncheck it in the prefs or it won't work without pushing the button...

I went through the settings with a fine tooth comb, tried PTT as well as automatic, no luck

I'm going to try iVisit one more time tonight because I can't find any other options...

I fixed this problem. I got my brother to buy an iBook! :D

i'm pretty sure the latest ichat beta and the latest version of AIM allow you to do voice chat.

It appears that at least one of you needs to have a camera attached with the iChat/AIM thing. I can't get it to work and neither of us have a camera to try.
