zip disk trouble

I have this zip disk that I have used before. After I insert it into the zip drive the window pops up prompting me to initialize it, eject it or ignore etc. I can't get to my stuff on the zip. Any idea on what I can do?

open the metal cover, get some compressed air, and GENTLY blow it if it's dirty, do the same with the drive. that solved one disk not mounting.

Make sure the plastic cover over the crystal-like component on the bottom of the disk is clean. If that doesn't work, have a look at this link (http://www.iomega.com/support/documents/10534.html).

My guess, though, is that your disk or drive is defective.

Unplug the drive, insert the disk, and plug in the drive.

If you've got a USB bus-driven (no power brick) drive, use a port directly on the computer.
