How far will current macbook prices drop after update?

This is my first post here, but I've been looking around for a while. I currently have a PC, but am planning on getting a Macbook after my birthday in October. My hope is that after the new Macbooks come out, the price will drop low enough on the current Macbooks so I won't have to spend $1299...

Does anyone have any idea what the prices will drop to after the update?

I don't know, but I would love if the base model had a Superdrive and only cost $999 or $899. I will repeat something I read about a month ago; can you even buy a PC with a Combo drive anymore? Why does Apple sell them and offer such a high premium to upgrade?

Well it's not quite $999, but how about this (http://store.apple.com/us/product/FB403LL/A). Refurbished in my experience usually has better quality control than new anyway and as far as the computers are concerned look just like brand new.
