hi. I'm thinking about buying an iphone 3g online and fixing it up. if only the glass cover of the iphone is cracked, do I just buy another glass cover($30) or do I have to buy the digitizer along with it($95)? please let me know. I know for sure the iphone 2g you need both the digitizer and glass cover.

I did read that with the iPhone 3G that the glass and LCD/digitizer isn't glued together like it was with the 2G, which is why there is a "dust" problem. So if you manage to get the glass off and notice that it's only the glass that is broken, in theory, as long as your digitizer is fine, then you should be able ot just order the $30 glass part.
thanks guys. i could care less about voiding the warranty, the 3g is easy to open up. I want to buy 3gs for about 300-350 fix the glass cover, then resell it for 600.

sketchwardo. why would anyone think to ask "was the screen ever cracked and replaced?".
when you buy a used car, wouldn't you ask if it had previous damage? And I guess if no one asks then they get the short end of the stick

Typical sketchy argument from a shady seller. Obviously a car costs a lot more than an iPhone, and a used car is typically a lot older than 2 months.
