Do you have applecare? Sounds like you might have the infamous motherboard issue..

Yeah, it sounds like the infamous motherboard issue. I'd call Apple.
Also, try posting in the Hardware forum next time, your post will get more attention.

I have a TiBook and the exact same thing happened to me. The only problem was that the battery wasn't completely settled in the computer.
Before you panic, just try taking your battery out and reinserting it snugly.

Did you ever register the computer? If you didn't, they might not have your record and then you can say you bought your computer about a year ago.

Well that could help you out a great deal. When you call them, don't say that the computer is more than a year old. Tell them that you have many computers and you can't keep track of the purchase date. Then tell them something like "its no more than a year old, probably less" Just keep it cool and you should be fine.
BTW, I have done this before.;)

What should I say is the reason for the call.

When you call, they will ask you if you have applecare extended warranty, and you say no. Then they will probably ask you when you bought the computer and you less than a year ago.
Then, tell them your problem and they will take it from there.
