iPhone application lock-out?

After performing a sync on my iPhone today I noticed that within iTunes I am not able to deselect any of the apps (check boxes all greyed out), not sure when this started since I just noticed this today but does anyone have a fix for this?
 
I too have had this happen to me this morning after updating yesterday. but I played around with the restrictions on the iphone and in the settings>general>restrictions>installing Apps thinking that this would just remove the icon on the iphone, but this is your problem.

You will need to enable and disconnect your iphone for the setting in iTune to reset. When you reconnect it will allow you to select apps again.
