If iTunes got re-wrote in Cocoa, then it would be a big thing (not big as in a stand alone reason for iTunes 8, but big as in a good step forward to making iTunes more efficient and slimmed down) and it would definitely get a mention.

Maybe it would get a mention, I'll guess I'm wrong about that, but it's still irrelevant to the vast majority of people who use iTunes. Most people care if their computer and the apps on it work, not how.

As for the "more efficient"... Like I said, itunes + cocoa = itunes. Probably all software could stand a re-write after a few years and might be more efficient for it, at the very least we'd be trading old assumptions, bugs, and limits for new ones. But there is nothing magical and wonderful about one programming framework over another.

Let me put it another way, if re-writing apps in Cocoa mattered that much then wouldn't it have been done already, especially for things like FCP? As it happens, I think you might be right in the end. Not because itunes in cocoa would be somehow "more efficient" but rather because it's clear that apple are slowly pulling the plug on carbon.

Maybe, maybe not. Such a rewrite wouldn't affect the Windows version at all, and I suspect that it's actually the majority version at this point...

I think iLife 09 is A DEFINITE POSSIBILITY as well, since if the focus is on HD on iTunes store, Apple has to release the full native Blu-Ray support, along with new iLife 09 to add more HD content to video production....

I also think that Apple will finally re-fresh their Cinema display with HD gloss display, available at affordable price, along with built in TV tuner support that lets viewer watch TV from their Mac via Front Row.

Rumor has Apple has bought the popular iTunes-visualization Magnetosphere.

According (http://www.tuaw.com/2008/09/05/rumor-new-visualizer-in-itunes-8-to-be-robert-hodgins-magnetos/) to TUAW, Magnetosphere owner Robert Hodgins confirmed by email he sold his product to a third party, which presumably is Apple.

Further more the visualization Kevin Rose described (http://twitter.com/kevinrose/statuses/907054263) is pretty much the same as the original Magnetosphere, which was pulled a couple of months ago stating they had some work to do which would take some time.

Both pieces of evidence point to the possibility that Apple has bought the software and included it in iTunes 8.

I agree about a new iLife, iWork, Cinema Displays, Blu-Ray in the Mac Pro, & a redesigned Mac Mini, but not until Macworld '09.

There have been no rumors about iLife yet, and usually we would have heard something about it.

It is, but not all burners support it. Make sure that "Write CD Text" is enabled in... Options -> Advanced -> Burning, I think.

Quite possibly not. (http://www.maclife.com/article/tip_day/burning_cd_track_names_itunes) (See the last paragraph.) I've only tried it in Windows on a non-Mac, but as long as the burner supports it (my older machine can't burn CD text in any program I've tried) I haven't had a problem.

But... that makes it sound like it is still burned onto the CD... just that mine won't read it. But, I burn the CD with the option enabled, and on any other computer (Mac or PC), I do not see CD text.

iTunes 8.0 and iPod upgrades doesn't really exceed any other iPod event.
