No you can't. You can email them however.

Yup it sucks... you can't. If you do a search there are a lot of threads on this conversation. Lots of threads.

swirlymms which is coming out soon for jailbroken phones will allow you to do this.

At&T now sends you a link to the image.... Nit ideal but a start

Most carriers however have a mail server that you can e-mail and the e-mail is forwarded on like a text to the cell phone.

eg a email to 1234567890@mobile.att.net will be forwarded to like a txt. (need to included country and area code if applicable.)

I know it works for plain text. I haven’t tried sending a photo like this however.
