The one on the left is actually the second generation 10GB model. It has the touch-sensitive scroll wheel.....the first gen had a scroll wheel that actually moved as you scrolled.

I love what that company has been doing in recent years, and it's a big step up from their 1980s years.

I was, back then, only into foreign cars and especially sports cars which were way out of my price range, but when the Viper came out at its relative price compared to Italian and German sportscars, it changed everything. You no longer needed to spend on a car as much as a house to get world class performance.

As for less than sportscars and regular cars like most of us have, I think Pontiac has some nice cars which are practical and more powerful and fast than any cars off the showroom floor. I like the Vibe in its class and the G6 (after witnessing a childish drag race at a stoplight). Working near Laguna Seca I know when I see something a little out of the ordinary, it was nice to see an American car, and one that looks like what your daddy would use as a commuter car, pull off something usually only expensive custom cars could. Several people called 911 and they could not catch the G6. While I wouldn't condone this type of behavior, part of me was impressed with its performance. Your Chrysler car here seems to be a real jet!

I'm sure some are asking why on earth would I want to move from Australia, the simple answer is to experience life in another Country. We chose the US because we really enjoy our time over there and they have easy access to the sports we love to watch and play (hockey and baseball). Plus the company I work for is based in the US which _might_ make things a little easier to achieve in our timeframe of 2 - 3 years...

But in the short to medium term it is something I want but cannot have.

I have a pair, and I'd say that they're good but not great. On Amazon, they have a 3.5/5 star rating, and I'd say that's about right. I got mine when they were around $50, which is a good price point for them. I've improved my pair to a 4/5 by adding some Comply foam tips.

I've wondered when the technology would arrive where we'd be able to have a little wireless controller sending electrical 'audio' impulses directly into our auditory nerve, with variable mixing volume of 'environmental sound' (ie what the ear actually hears).

In other words, earphones that are actually in-ear. À la Cochlear implants but perhaps not so surgically invasive (if that's possible). It could also be powered by bioelectricity, and we'd never get physical hearing damage, and we'd wouldn't need any more cables, batteries...ever again.

I moved to "ergoshifters" a while ago and it is safe to say I'll never go back. What makes you want downtube shifters so bad? Most bikes now don't have a downtube shifter option and for good reason. It is obsolete.

I stated my reasons in my reply. ;)

You could pay and get a higher-end Shimano (Ultegra, DA) or Campagnolo Athena or something, and what you'd get are smoother shifts. That's where your money is going towards. Sure, you also get better materials and slightly lighter weight, but for most people, the real benefit is in the smooth and response, which of course is complicated by how the cables need to be routed. The tech is faster, but it's hampered somewhat by the mechanics of the setup. Well, an indexed DT shifter may give you shifting that's fast (relative to other Tiagras), and be relatively more reliable due to the simplicity of it.


But I'd probably get the Campy Veloce because that's what I really want. Never really used Campagnolo except when trying on a bike. ;) I'm just played with the idea of getting DT shifters because it's something I think I'd like.

Perhaps it works incredibly and is a significant engineering feat. l just don't think you buy watches like that to tell accurate time, or for gimmicks. It's men's jewellery, and that watch looks tacky.

My current skates flex right in the middle of the quarter package, from about the 4th - 5th eyelet down from the top in the direction of the heel. Friend of mine that plays hockey didn't understand what I meant until I showed him at training last night :)

Current skates are an EQ10, and unfortunately here in Aust we can get the EQ10, EQ20 or the EQ50, none of the in between. Yes I can order them from OS but I would rather support a local hockey store here. I tried on a pair of EQ20's the other day and they had the same symptoms. So EQ50 here I come, hopefully, if they can get my size.

Bauers and my feet don't agree, well I should say Supreme and my feet don't agree. Easton fit well, it is just the flexing on the lower end skates that is the concern at the moment. Just waiting for a pair of 9.5D's to come into the country (special order as they only generally bring in whole sizes).
