i have to say guys, dating sites are the final refuge of the hopeless.
1400 Dollars to get hooked up with someone, c'mon that is daylight robbery, I know it's not just a US thing because we have them in the UK and Europe.... but it is an act of desperation.
You do not have to get hitched, it is OK to be single, society that tells us we must be part of a couple to be considered normal is flawed.
I am single, I was married it failed, I met another girl we had a kid then we split up. I am not good in relationships but I am a good father and see my son 3 times or more a week.
Do I get lonely? Yes I do, will I pay somebody money to hook me up with someone? No I will not.
If and when I meet someone it will be because fate has deemed it so not a wad of cash.
Anyway sorry lets get back on track to pictures of cool **** we can't afford.

^^^Perhaps, but if someone genuinely WANTS to be with someone, and it's not just societal pressure driving them towards this goal, then what's wrong with getting a (paid) push in the back in the right direction?
Dating services are about creating dating opportunities.......more opportunities than any real person can have naturally. It's not a sure thing. It's not prostitution or something. It's more like buying 10 lottery tickets instead of 1.
I haven't used one, but I see nothing wrong with it. Besides, once you're with someone you're happy with, it may be worth it.

If you want an Asian girlfriend, regardless of your race or financial background, you can go to your local college or university and find such a girlfriend. Do be careful of somebody who is only looking to get married and then have a legal right to live in America, Canada, (Europe, the west), but not necessarily in that order.
Pffft, I'd rather warn all the Asian girls from Asian countries of all the guys who are just looking for some sort of Asian girl to date (Asian girls from "Westernized countries" already know about it, so need no warning). People who like Asian girls seem more obsessed/"focused" than other people who have a physical/cultural preference.
For example, I like girls with "mousy" (light-ish) brown to dark/black hair, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't date a blonde if the right one came my way. It also doesn't mean I'd do anything to get "friendly" with a group of dark-haired people just to increase my chances of meeting girls with dark hair, or try to make friends only with Spanish guys (and girls) just to increase my chances of getting with girls. It weirds me out that guys obsessed with Asian girls are so obsessed with it, like they MUST date an Asian girl, and they absolutely will NOT be happy dating any other type of girl.
You can like whoever you want. I really don't care what your preferences are because everyone has sexual preferences. I have them, and you have them. All I'm saying is that people who happen to have a preference for Asians appear far more obsessed with this one aspect of a person's existence than people with other physical/cultural preferences, and I find this rather strong obsession to be weird.

Oh man, the story of my non-existent love life. I'm African-American, and the thing is, theres a group of asians who are dating the same race as me which I have tried to date; got shot down by each one. None of them talk to me anymore and I'm not too sure why, I guess there's something in me people don't like. My other group of asian "friends" (quote) only stay within their asian prayer group. I can't talk, or hang out with them outside of school. One that I really fell for I tried 5 freaking times to take out, not even on a date after the 3rd try, just to lunch, and still kept saying she was busy all weekend (I'm sorry, I've been a sophomore, theres no way you're given that much work on the 2nd week of school that you can't spare 2 hours for free food).
In the end, it doesnt matter. I somewhat graduate in less than a week and I won't be seeing anyone here ever again. Not everyone is destined to be with someone and I'm damn sure not going on a dating site.
It sounds like you're trying too hard. A lot of Asians are very clique-ey (I honestly don't know how to type that word, if it is one) and you can forget about becoming a part of some circles. Meet people naturally, don't force yourself upon them, and you'll eventually meet someone who makes you far happier than had you pursued them in such a direct, uncomfortable manner.
By the way, I know you're into Koreans. I used to be too. Despite being Chinese, most of my relationships have been with Korean girls. One of them was genuinely a sweet, positive relationship. But a few girls definitely lived up to the stereotype: prissy, stuck up, little substance. They have been taught their entire life to value money, success, superficiality and prestige. In the end, that's all they cared about, and none of those relationships lasted more than a couple of months.
So don't get too worked up about it. You should really be more concerned with what type of person you're looking for, not where they're from or what their cultural ties are. I even dated a Bengali girl once, and I didn't mean at all to meet or get to know her.

You forgot about their epic tantrums/hissy fits and jealousy spats :p Oh how I've tried to find a nice Korean girl to take home to mom but, 'round these parts, there are just the superficial ones decked out in Gucci/Prada/Louis Vuitton hand bags and those stupid looking bug eye sunglasses. Don't even get me started on their driving habits either. The Beltway is a far more dangerous place when they're on the road :D

An asian girlfriend (which would also be my first), and Swan M10, but who knows when those will ever happen.
My first thought with these pictures was...
why can't you find the m10s?
You should look into vietnamese girls. Most are friendly, open and confident...and know how to take care of their men while retaining pride and strength...haha but I am biased.

The dating sites are a business first and foremost and of my friends, one got the wrong one (while spending gosh knows what) and the other spent a ton of money and met nobody.
The dating game could be really hard at times but always keep your mind open. Are you talking about high school or college when you finish? Either way, you are still very young probably if I correctly assume you are in your late teens to early 20s, but anyway congrats on finishing school.
Myself and many people I know have had great success using dating sites. Actually, the only friends of ours that we know that have been divorced didn't meet on a dating site.

Maybe if you tried a dating site, you would have (had) better luck?
I met my wife on a dating site, and neither of us were hopeless. We were/are both very busy professionals, which meant that the only places we interacted with people was at work, at the gym, or out when we were with friends on the weekend. We both just used it as another means of meeting people we never would have met via our friends or the places we went at the time. It's just another option that can be used, it's not a sign of desperation.
We've been married over 6 years now, have an amazing son, and we're best friends. I never would have met her without that site. Many of our friends also met through dating sites, and they are all still happily married.
And $1,400? Where are you getting that number from? I'm pretty sure it costs around $30 a month or so these days.
Krafty, there's no shame in using a dating site. Take it from me, you might find someone amazing.

What's wrong with dating sites? it's 2011 people. It's like saying computer forums are for geeks who doesn't work and hang out in front of their computer 24/7. There are plenty of dating sites that are free or cost very little.

I wouldn't worry too much about not being able to find a girlfriend. There are lots of single people out there.
If you think you have a very sad love life, I doubt that it can be any worse than mine. I'm a 30 something year old single guy & never once in my life did I have a girlfriend! :o I can assure you that it is definitely not lack of effort in trying though. In fact, I couldn't even get a single date no matter how hard I tried! :( You may think that I'm real pathetic (that's what I think) & that's fine. Oddly enough, I have a few really close female friends but for some reason, I'm just good enough to be a very good friend but I'm not good enough to be a boyfriend &/or husband to any of them or other girls. Although I hate to admit it, I guess I'm just not appealing & attractive enough for any girl to like me. :( Or maybe I just suck super big time! :D
Not having &/or being able to find a girlfriend really bug the heck out of me when I was younger. :( However, I've already gotten used to it & have "move on" with my life after coming to the realization that maybe I'm fated to be single my entire life. Funny enough, I've just told my mom the other day that the way things are going for me, I'm definitely not getting married in this life & that she shouldn't place any hope on me regarding marriage & starting my own family. :o
Hey, we should always look on the bright side. Being single is the best! :D

My friend's family started a huge insurance company, I am sure one we have all heard about, a real blue blood type. Those $1,400 dollar clubs are not in my budget nor have they ever been, but whether it's $30 dollars or $1,400 dollars, the dating clubs are not my type of thing. That's just my personal preference.
That being said, some people here have made some great arguments for dating clubs and websites. Hey, if it works, then all the more power. It takes all types to make the world go around. If I were convinced dating clubs and websites could gain "acceptance" in the United States, I would pull any money I had saved up, tell anybody I know who are serious investors, and start a freakin' business. ;)

What year are you posting from?
Dating websites are very accepted among people in their 20's and 30's. Hell, I even know people in their 40's, 50's, and 60's who have divorced and subsequently met their new significant other on a dating site.
I also don't understand your reference to your friend's family's insurance company.

So true. Upcoming saturday i am going to meet the love of my life. Or not. If not, the next in the que will be. Or not. Sometimes the weirdest **** happens, girls that break your back the same night, some girls are running down the street in 5 minutes after you met them, some you see for a few weeks, some even longer. It's all fun and everybody has the same state of mind: A modern way of meeting the prince/princess of your life, skipping the hassle that's normally involved when meeting new people. Don't forget you are not forced to date the ones that are matched, you can actually choose :p

LOL AW MAN.
Well, apologies to people for making this thread take a right turn.
The dating game could be really hard at times but always keep your mind open. Are you talking about high school or college when you finish? Either way, you are still very young probably if I correctly assume you are in your late teens to early 20s, but anyway congrats on finishing school.
College.
I'm not too caught up in dating, which is why all throughout my senior year I've only made one attempt with the girl I mentioned. We still talk, and I help her with her work, and thats about it. I haven't dared to try to take it a step further cause I know she'll just run away. So better friends than not friends at all is how I look at it.
Well, I've never had sex so I wouldn't think its a "sexual" preference. I've never attempted that kind of move on a girl before simply cause I haven't thought about it. Hell, I wouldn't even know what to do, so I just leave it alone.
I don't mind other races, I just have a preference.
It sounds like you're trying too hard. A lot of Asians are very clique-ey (I honestly don't know how to type that word, if it is one) and you can forget about becoming a part of some circles. Yeah, I'm fine. I've been single all my life and I'm still alive so no real complaints. A significant other would be nice so perhaps I don't sit in my room all day but I've been living without and theres people who have lived longer without.
Not everyone is destined to have someone and I can live with that, but no harm in trying every now and then.
My first thought with these pictures was...
why can't you find the m10s?
You should look into vietnamese girls. Most are friendly, open and confident...and know how to take care of their men while retaining pride and strength...haha but I am biased.
Heh, find me a place thats selling them. AudioInsider claims to have them in stock by Spring but it's almost summer. Why a company showcases speakers they don't plan to sell is beyond me.
And I don't mind Viet, but whats weird is all my Taiwanese friends are 25+. We've hung out multiple times, and ate out, but its just weird cause they don't even look 25. One was married when we first met (we've been friends for about 3 years).
Krafty, there's no shame in using a dating site. Take it from me, you might find someone amazing.
I don't shun people who do, but as for now, I'm not that desperate. I sound desperate because its just a show, it keeps people smiling without going too far with the jokes, but deep down I don't hound all the asians at my college. Trust me, I wouldn't interact with them if I was as creepy as I sound on here.
I wouldn't worry too much about not being able to find a girlfriend. There are lots of single people out there.

It's not just asians, but I don't know how to approach women in general. My first date was okay, but now shes dating someone else (a few weeks later afterwards) and now that will always be bound to the memory of my first date until I am mature enough to forget (or if they release that medicine that can erase memories).
I'm a virgin whose never dated, and I don't find shame in that, but I don't think I can convince myself that I'm actually ready for a relationship, so perhaps, I shouldn't even be trying. There's more important things to life than dating, and seeing how the real world treated my cousins who went in head first, dating is the last thing to worry about that this point.

The great thing about it is that if you have trouble asking women out, it makes it a lot easier because you can do it PM styles. Once you're on the date, you're both there for the same reason (well, usually;)). If you guys hit it off, awesome, if not, you finish your drink/coffee, say "nice meeting you", and you keep searching. I'm not going to say that every date was great- I went on some bad ones too- but eventually it worked out.
Also, I didn't really think you were as creepy as you make yourself out to be here....I always took your creepy for asian thing as tongue in cheek or a joke (hey, I've got a thing for asian women too, so I hear ya:p). You seem like a good dude, so I would guess that things will work out for you. I know what that is, $5,600 dollar Ampeg Heritage 30 I think or something in that upper range?!?, even though I am not sure I have ever seen one.
I have seen similar type setups with Trace Elliot and SWR stacks and if what you posted is what I think it is, it's expensive like a Quad Mac Pro, 6 gigs of RAM, and 4 hard drives with dual monitors.
That is one big bottomed girl. It's also the shape of that bottom, if it's the 30 watt model, which makes it more desirable than most modern 300 watt transistor bass amps, and ten times the oomph per watt anyway with those original tube bass amps which are only seen these days in re-issues. I could post a pic of the legendary Vox AC-30, but then I would have to sell my Macs to ever get one. ;)
http://www.sweetwater.com/images/closeup/xl/1600-AC30HW2_AC15HW1_Group.jpg
That's THE 30 watts many guitarists would probably take over many a modern 100 watt guitar amp.

Well, the food choice is because of my emotions. As feminine as that sounds, yes, I do eat my emotions and I'm not afraid to admit it (I don't admit a lot of my problems, this is what, problem #3?). A lot of my friends are begging me to go on a "fast food" diet and so far, I'm 2 days clean.
Like I said, thats just for me, as I'm in college so I'm still young, but since you're a lot older you have time for online dating, I honestly don't. Hell, I don't even know if I'm going to have a job or be behind a pawn shop shooting up heroin in a few months.
And yeah, its a joke, usually when flirting with my friends they like to pull the "see, I know you're lying cause I'm not asian" line. But a majority of my asian friends are in a relationship, so I'm happy if they're happy. Either way, I'll be okay. They say I'm missing out in life, but the only thing that is missing in my life is a Nissan 350z (which a korean friend of mines bought at the beginning of the year  and shes ****ing 20, a year younger than me).
I don't tend to hang out with the rich ones, but they are pretty wealthy, one even has a boyfriend who bought her a 27" iMac (no ****ing joke) and owns a B&O Beosound 8 (http://www.bang-olufsen.com/beosound8) at his job (which is like what, another $1,000?). So they're rich, but don't too much flaunt it, and they're cool to hang with and I talk to them regularly.

And I'm not "a lot" older!

I have never tried online dating, but it seems to me as probably one of the least time-consuming ways to meet someone.
So what else is stopping you? I'm going to sound harsh here, but stop making excuses for yourself. You started by saying you wanted a girlfriend (an Asian one, but this is beside the point), then as soon as it turned into a discussion, you claimed that you were fine with being single. If you want something, pony up and get it. No other advice anyone will give you can help unless you have the initiative to at least try.
Anyways, still waiting on acceptance from UWO Dental. So I suppose what I want but is many many years off is a degree in oral & maxillofacial surgery. Reach for the top. :)

I have never tried online dating, but it seems to me as probably one of the least time-consuming ways to meet someone.
It is. It's even less time consuming as MR.;)
Harsh, but yeah, good advice.:o

Go Mustangs:p. I loved going to school there.......it went by way too fast.

Yeah, I guess I could. I have it sitting vertically in a stand hooked up to a 24" external monitor, and I just recently installed a 500GB 7200rpm HDD. If I got the Air to replace my MBP, it would mean I'd have go through the hassle of selling the MBP (as I said, I can afford the Air, but just can't justify having both). I may do it, but I'll wait and see if they announce new Airs this month.
Thanks for being a bad influence on me.:D

And I'm not "a lot" older!

I guess its because you seem more wise within this subject. I don't talk to too many people about it cause i get the occasional "its life, sucks, just keep trying." So I just don't bore people with it.
You started by saying you wanted a girlfriend (an Asian one, but this is beside the point),
Meh, for the sake of the thread. I didn't expect it to turn into a discussion which is why I was more honest later on.
Want, yes. Need, not so much.

What you posted so far is very interesting. You should start a new thread in the community section. I think the issue of dating sites can bring up strong reactions one way or the other, and at the very least some people with interesting first hand accounts of this quite popular phenomenon.

^^ Ooooooooooh ya. Cheap too which is a great bonus (for the e30 anyway...) I've been eyeing those as well as they come in e30 fitment as well at 13lbs....but for a 15x7. The 5 spoke design will always look good! I did just buy some diff rebuild stuff for my "new" 3.25lsd, unfortunatly I secured another set of ASA JS1 wheels in pretty decent condition with new tires for $300, so after unmounting the rubber, I'll secure some used slicks from the Miata guys. Still, I need to consider the lighter D-forces. I thought my trunk could hold at least 3 wheels/tires...nope. Only 2, and that's with 1 in the spare slot....ugh, 2 in the back seat....Definitely need to trailer my car to HDPEs....

An 11" MBA with 256 GB SSD (or anything larger than 128 GB) and 4 GB of RAM.
If the higher capacity drive isn't available in the next Sandy Bridge update, I'm going to be really disappointed.
And while I say I "want" this, it's something I'm going to buy when it comes out. I may even sell my 15" i5 2.4 GHz MBP because I wouldn't mind an 11" MBA as my primary laptop at the moment. ;)

Nissan 370Z

The car I really want is the BMW 135i, but the cost of repairs/parts in Australia is ridiculous on BMW's. I have a Mini Cooper S 03, and that alone has been terrible in the one part I had to buy for it, and now it needs CV joints, and if I where to get BMW parts it would cost me $1000 just for one.
I love the 370z though, and Japanese cars are greatly reliable and cheap to repair and service.
The car is atleast a year off, everything else I hope to get soon. TV is next on this list, will be getting it in a month or so.

When the R32 became legal they were only around 20,000 for a really clean good shape car. Now that they have been legalf or some time you can get a clean R32 GTR for around 10000. R33 is following a similar price (GTS is currently under 6-10000) so I am hoping the R34 follows the price trend :D

LOL, I misread your post! I though the K was getting into piercing!
Anyway I worked at the world's largest gun dealer many years ago and when the boss mentioned that the big K and the big W were going to get into this rather complicated business on a serious level, nobody took those two seriously, and the idea of a low cost family store entering firearms/ammo was totally laughable at the time. It was as if K-Mart or Walmat would try and jockey to be the world's largest dealer of Macs overnight. But give K-Mart time, if it's hot, like piercing is, they will find a way to crack that market.
Another store, Best Buy, has gone from an "electronics" store where I am to become a wannabe Target, which in turn has tried to become like a one-stop shopping Costco.
I think this recession has had everybody rethink their business models and the local vinyl record shop now does piercings, including "that" painful one which my friends and I almost walked in on (but the person being pierced wanted all of us to watch, but we politely declined). You can get your fix of old Led Zep records and get your weenie pierced in one visit and allow people to watch the free entertainment. Now, that is one stop shopping.:D

Range Rover Evoque.
Reviews have all been very positive! I've sat in one before for around 10 minutes (both the 3 and 5 door versions), and I couldn't believe how nice the car looked in person. The interior is stunning. It's not a cheap car, but I believe that the level of detail I saw in the interior is far greater than the price tag would indicate.

I've never met her, nor been anywhere near her or those that know her. But from my limited exposure to watching her on TV talk shows once in a while, she appears to me as a genuine sweetheart.
But without knowing her personally, I'll refrain from passing judgment on her based on speculation and hearsay; I'll grant her, and anyone for that matter, the benefit of doubt that she's a decent person, until she proves to me otherwise.

I agree completely. Mid Century Modern furniture is expensive because it is built to last this long, and is of the best quality and appeal.
Most reproductions can not match the level of quality in the original. Besides, if you can save $1k, you might as well wait a little longer and save for the better one.

I agree, to an extent. If the materials and workmanship ARE indeed comparable, there is no reason a "casual user" would need to buy an original.
Nonetheless, if you're buying this sort of furniture, it's also an investment. A genuine example, if kept in good condition, will hold its value. Heck, even average condition specimens still go for a great deal. I recently came across an old, kinda beat-up Saarinen tulip chair selling for 80% the cost of the new one from Knoll.

I struggled with this question when I bought my Eames lounge chair.
Then I sat in a knock-off at a hotel and it was crap.
That made the decision a lot easier. I suspect not all knock-offs are created equal, of course.
