I heard there could be a way to ...what's the word I'm looking for... turn a YouTube video into QuickTime and put it on an iPod, MacBook, or something? Is this even legal???? If not, tell me and I'll forget the whole thing, but I swear I heard it can be done since it's in the mainstream??

TubeSock (http://stinkbot.com/Tubesock/) or TubeTV (http://www.chimoosoft.com/products/tubetv/)

Whether it's legal or not depends on the specific video; some are "open" and others are copyrighted. In my opinion the best solution is to use KeepVid (http://keepvid.com), which allows you to download the MPEG-4 version directly. That way, you're not re-encoding the video and losing quality.

As far as I know, it should be legal as long as you don't share it with anyone else or use parts of it in your own videos. You're downloading the video anyway by watching it on Youtube, so it shouldn't be an issue.

Note that laws aren't the same in all countries and its best to check with someone more experienced to know for sure.
