I just bought a Iphone 2G from a friend and I was going to activate it though Itunes. Can I just place my current Cingular (AT&T) sim from my phone into the Iphone and activate it or do I need a new sim card? I do not want to jailbreak or unlock the Iphone. Thanks!

i have an old cingular sim card and it didnt work for me. so i went to att store and got a brand new "blue" sim and worked fine.

Thanks for your response! I tried to activate my old cingular sim that I was using this weekend on the Iphone and it worked for me. I didn't need to get a new sim.

The best answer to this is YMMV. I know they told me that I would need a new SIM card but iTunes would let me add the plan without a new one.
