HL for the Mac was actually finished (well the single player part was anyway). They just decided not to release it because of pirating and the Mac gaming market was not big enough at the time. So it could be the unreleased version of HL for the Mac that someone has managed to get hold of and put on a CD. I know the same happened to the Dreamcast version of HL and some people were able to get hold of the beta version and play it.
