anyone know if battlefield 1942 will ever be ported to the mac?

nope, dice wants nothing to do the with the mac, they even cancelled their xbox port which was nearly done.

Dice sucks!

I love BF1942... but their netcode sucks sucks and sucks some more.

i hope they have done a great job with battlefield vietnam, i cant wait for that game to come out.

With Breakthrough and Call of Duty on the way I could care less. If Dice hates the Macintosh platform, his loss.

call of duty is a completly different game than battlefield.

I definitely want BF1942 on Mac, but its just a pipe dream. Thats the only reason I still have a PC laying around.

Uhh yeah I think I know that having played both. I was referring to having another FPS based on WWII era weapons/vehicles.

Uhh...from AppleInsider article on 1/15:

"Development of "Dues Ex 2" and "Battlefield 1942" are rumored to begin shortly if work has not started already. Unfortunately no details on target releases dates were available and Aspyr failed to return inquiries for confirmation or additional information by press time."

Couldn't care less about the Deus Ex 2 port (crippled by console consideration), but BF1942 is awesome. Hopefully they can clean up the netcode during the process.

quite possible now, but i emailed aspyr last year and they said they already spoke with dice about it and it wasnt happening, but maybe they changed their mind.

I had read the same thing. Maybe Dice consented after realizing Aspyr was taking all the risk for a solid potential return.

Well here's to hoping for the best!

I'll take BF1942 with the follow up of Vietnam :D thanx!...

Guess Dice won't be doing a Desert Storm, since Desert Combat (mod) beat them to it and for free!

I wouldnt be too sure about that :(, give them a couple of years-theres already EOD a mod set in Vietnam.
