You could, but you would be defrauding ATT, and could face jail time if they pressed charges. Its unlikely they would press charges, but if they found out they would obviously remove the discount at the very least.
On top of that your not of legal age to sign the contract.

First off, Happy birthday.
Secondly, act your age, not your shoe size, as Prince once said.
You may not like what he had to say, but he was absolutely correct. If you can't agree to ATT's terms, and sign the contract without meeting their terms, you'd be defrauding ATT, and they would be within their right to terminate any of your discounts, and your FAN, and possibly even your ATT service altogether. Welcome to the real world.
I can understand if you don't have the money or anything, and are trying to get the cheapest deal you can, but if you can't afford it now, you shouldn't really be looking to get the phone until you can, FAN or not. Michael Jackson said it best 8 years before you were a gleam in your parents' eyes:
If you can't feed your baby, then don't have a baby.
And don't think maybe, if you can't feed your baby.
Delay your gratification until you can afford it. The grass will still be green when you get there.

Problem is, the OP has no money to spend to begin with!
As far as SS is concerned, personally, I'm working on that, but have a read of Robert Kiyosaki's Cashflow Quadrant. If anything, it'll get you thinking about what to do when you're at the point where (the to-be nonexistent) SS is supposed to help.

Nope, that does nothing. Here are few ways to establish credit:
Store Credit Card
Normal Credit Card
Student Loan (weighs less than the previous 2)
Mortgage
Installament Loans (ie. cars)

Yeap I just bought an apple keyboard (usb) and i got two incase white and black 3g iphone cases because I'm pretty sure I'll buy the iPhone...
How much is the deposit?
And thanks to the guy above who gave me tips unlike someone in post #2 *cough cough*
Anyways does anyone know if the apple aluminum keyboard will have enought power on the left side to power an iPod nano 2nd generation?
Also i just noticed two dents in my keyboard (like the aluminum part looks like it got hit and it's a dent... and a little gash of metal next to the up key.
But I'm ahppy with this keyboard :D
Time to get used to it... I'm just typing right now to get used to it.
Wow I can't get used to the friggin CAPS and the Shift....
LOLOL
This is kinda awesome. I have a logitech mouse VX nano and I put it on my right side of the apple aluminum keyboard but the response was all slow -_-;;
So I just went to system preferences and I saw that the tracking speed was back to like default (which is UBER slow mind you)
Oh yea when I tried to put in the VX nano USB thingy into the aluminum keyboard, I accidentally like made a scratch... :(
My poor aluminum keyboard.
LOOL @ me i have no life :(
But I'm just testing this keyboard out and telling you my life story.
Today I went to Panda Express after school (san diego ftw UTC ftw) and then looked at the apple store.
I don't live with my parents and only with my older sister who goes to UCSD. She's like a mother to me although she can be mean at times.
Anyways tomorrow is my birthday and I've never received anything from people (except my sister :o) so I bought myself the Apple Aluminum keyboard
But when I came home the box was bent :(
I was like oh sht... LOL but it's all good since the keyboard was intact.
And on the keyboard there was this little black mark so I got the scrubbber thing (white color sponge thing but like Mr. Eraser or w/e Magic Eraser) but the sponge thing got caught in the space bar...
So I was like :oh noes: so then I looked on google on how to take it apart... I've never taken apart a new product within like 15 minutes of opening it ROFL
Anyways the space button does seem kind of more mushy but regardless I think it's the same as before. I love apple but their prices are just way overpriced.
Apple= monopoly of graphic designing/web designing/ specialized stuff...
Oh well this was nice to type. I hope I get some responses! :o

^^^^And all of that was relevant to what?
Seriously, no offense intended, but if you are as you say poor, have no money still in school, have no car, riding the bus and have no credit (nothing wrong with any of that, most people were there at one point in their lives) you really should be spending your money on other things. The deposit could be as high as $1000.00 but probably more in the $250 - $500 range.
As for all the gibberish you decided to drop on this thread, if you need someplace to blather on about your new keyboard and your trip to Panda Express, get yourself a blog.

I did not try to illegally sign a contract. I was only testing it out and realized through my research that it was impossible to make an ATT account under the age of 18.
Why are you trying to slander my name as if I was hacking the ATT website to sign a contract illegally?
I clearly posted back in hopes that other uses who are in the same situation as I am to be aware that they will not be able to make an AT&T account and waste time like I have.

Holy ****. Either this thread was heavily moderated (deleted posts) or I am way more tired than I originally thought!
From what I could gather the OP has no cash, no credit, got into college (which is completely astounding after reading this thread), and wants an iPhone?
OP: You'll need to lay down a deposit if you want an iPhone. Time Warner Cable doesn't report to your credit afaik until you **** up. You'll need to try to plug your nano into your keyboard to see if it works. AT&T will require you to be 18 to sign the contract and even if they do not check, your speech is a dead giveaway and makes you out younger than you clearly are. No one is trying to slander you, it's called libel because it is written and no one is doing that...you've done a fine job living up to all things written.
Thanks for the Apple+zoom tip, though "zoom" is not a key on my keyboard.
And next time you go to Panada Express can you bring me some orange chicken?

This sort of attitude kind of sums up why America is in so much financial trouble. An (allegedly) 17 year old scraping round to pay some company in an attempt to get a credit rating so he can buy things he can't really afford from another company. Things are pretty bad over here in the UK, but are nothing compared to the US where you can basically get an unlimited credit limit on a credit card as a student  It's time to teach kids to only spend what they can afford.

Do you by chance have an exact copy of the entrance essay you used to get into college? I think it'd be a fun read.
As for what I meant, you cried about slander and I corrected you and said it was libel. Meaning, if you felt someone was slandering you then you are wrong because it was written not spoken. Then, I carried on to say that it's not really libel if you are in fact living up to what is being written about you.
As for "0wing" the "60203's" you totally lost me there so I'll just go with it.
I think in the end take the advice of others regarding your iPhone situation.

A store credit card is just like a credit card, but it only works at a particular store or company's stores.

I'm afraid it is true, dear. In fact, the mere existence of such an attitude is enough to say the current state of affairs could have been hugely helped if US banks didn't throw money at college students. An example: students over here are allowed a maximum of around £1000 on a credit card. College students in the US, upwards of $25000. To coin a lovely American phrase: do the math.

And once you get the store credit card, it takes a good while (months, maybe years) of using it and paying the bill on time to get any worthwhile credit rating.
